It was revealed that the cartoon character was Peter Griffin and Ethel was just using the Peter Griffin Ray of Light gif

So funny that Lana saw this and is so paranoid that she thought, “She thinks I’m fat” :icant:

I think she responded that in her second post

"A couple of final notes on my "controversial post" that's not controversial at all. Despite the feedback I've heard from several people that I mentioned in a complimentary way, whether it be Ariana or Doja Cat - I want to say that I remain firm in my clarity and stance in that what I was writing about was the importance of self advocacy for the more delicate and often dismissed, softer female personality, and that there does have to be room for that type in what will inevitably become a new wave/3rd wave of feminism that is rapidly approaching. Watch!

Perhaps I could' ve given more context to my post by mentioning the title of the second book that would be out next March called 'behind the iron gates- insights from an institution'

I'm sorry that the folks who I can only assume are super trump/ pence supporters or hyper liberals or flip-flopping headline grabbing critics can't read and want to make it a race war, when in fact the issue was with *female critics and *female alternative artists who are dissociated from their own fragility and sexuality and berate more sexually liberated artists like
myself and the women i mentioned.

But in truth making it about race says so much more about you than it does about me -you want the drama, you don't want to believe that a woman could be beautiful, strong and fragile at the same time, loving and all inclusive by making personal reparations simply for the joy of doing it it. Nothing new here in your reaction. Same as ten years ago when a million think pieces came out about me feigning emotional fragility or lying about coming from no money when that was the truth.

My aim and my message are clear. That I have control of my own story. If the women I mention don't wanna be associated with me that's absolutely fine by me."

I’ve read her posts. It’s tone deaf and the clear example of white feminism which isn’t surprising considering her aesthetic is heavily inspired by white power.

It's not like Lana brought it up, she saw this post and reacted. If she's still affected by whatever beef they had, and doesn't like the idea of it being trivialized in this context, she's entitled to feel that way.

Entitled? Sure.

Cringe? I think so

There’s been literal drag brunches constantly about diva fandom worship like this, we used to do a Katy v Gaga one back in 2013 for example, there’s also a Whitney & Mariah one that still runs in my hometown now.

Also the Versus title literally just means half the queens do one persons songs and the other half do the others, that’s literally all it is. Like how you would get released songs called “Vs” mashup songs back in the day like the Lady Gaga Vs Deadmau5 track. Maybe two queens will do a funny number as the artists fighting each other on the odd occasion but the title literally just means that and Lana needs to lighten tf up

I guess that's fair. Drag is an art of shadiness and light-hearted uh.. piss-taking?

Maybe I'm just too sensitive to be a celebrity because if I were having beef with someone and people were hosting events mocking me and the stress I've been going through I'd be annoyed :laughga:

It is kinda weird I guess that she only randomly comes out of the woodwork to make comments like this. Like is she that bored in her white hawk tail feather deer hunter's cabin in the woods, scrolling on her elon musk starlink wifi while slaving away at the stew she's cooking on the stove?

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I'm in two minds about this. I strongly believe Lana can respond to this however she wants. Men are never accused of being attention seekers when they call out rivals and make diss tracks. Women defending themselves is always a contentious issue, even among people who claim to pro-women. There will always be a sense of "is this really worth complaining about?" when women have a sense of personal pride and calls out someone disrespecting them in the same way men do. As women, we're always told to let it go and choose love, choose kindness and all that nonsense. That's why women build up resentment and stress because they have to bite their tongues all the time for fear of coming across unlikeable (i.e. the worst thing a woman can be). On the other hand...she's Lana Del effing Rey. She doesn't need to pay this stuff any mind. I just wish she'd focus on releasing Stove and just doing her thing, which is being a great artist. That's the best revenge there is.

MAGA or not he’s still a transphobe and she’s literally a racist dumb b*tch to put it politely. Her question for the culture post alone lets you know that.

Both their music is an absolute snooze fest anyway but older stars just hate youth, thank god Gaga is a lead by example type of artist.

Lana has never been racist and if you think that, you don't know much about her. It says more about the people who saw the names she listed and just saw them for their colour and not their musical output which is what she was clearly referencing. The whole post was about how women in the industry get treated differently with their song subjects compared to her and people made it all about race because it just so happened that a lot of the women who had hits that year were black. If it were white girls at the top, she would totally have listed them too (and she listed Ariana and Camila, so yeah). It was like people deliberately missed the point and made it about something else just to be contrary because God forbid a woman point out a double standard. And Lana doesn't hate younger artists, she supported 27 year old Madison Beer's last album release (which was totally inspired by her sound) and got 25 year old Addison Rae on stage at her stadium tour to sing Addison's Diet Pepsi song with her, a song that directly rips off Lana's earliest work. She knows she's the blueprint for these girls, she's not threatened.

It was about so much more than that. Multiple instances. Lana herself said it was a habitual thing.

Pointing out how women are treated with varying levels of respect in the industry is white feminism? Having an opinion is allowed and everyone should be welcome in the conversation. Her post was all about sexism and nothing to do with racism. And her aesthetic is not inspired by white power. She herself even said when Trump first got elected that she wanted to stop using American flag imagery because she didn't like what it represented anymore and publicly said she was going to put a hex on him and that his win was a loss for the nation. She's donated money over the years to a charity supporting the Navajo community and helped build houses for that same charity before she was famous. Her Lust For Life album lyrically and visually shows her respect for minorities. And did you not see her National Anthem video?
