FfFfFfFF 58,061
In near-daily briefings with top military officials at the White House, President Donald Trump has reviewed options that include sending American troops into Iran. The decision whether to go ahead is perhaps his most difficult of the war since US strikes began February 28. For many Trump allies in Washington, the deployment of thousands of US troops to the Middle East would mean the swift end of their public support for the war— and likely threaten the administration’s ability to deliver the hundreds of billions of dollars in supplemental funding the White House will soon seek. But for Trump, fully realizing his objectives and mitigating the war’s fallout could require sending in American troops, a legacy-defining endeavor the president — while not ruling it out — tried to downplay this week. gemein3 1,449
I love CNN’s headline: “Inside Trump’s most difficult war decision yet: whether to put boots on the ground in Iran” As if Trump actually makes decisions with any concern for consequences. As if Trump actually has a mind… Talking about him like this wasn’t all his fault and normalizing everything insanely dangerous, escalatory and abnormal. 3
PornoDanceFight 1,987
The fan? Sh*t’s hitting it. I truly never thought I’d see foreign policy as disastrous as the Bush years so soon, but here we are.

I truly never thought I’d see foreign policy as disastrous as the Bush years so soon, but here we are. You know a few people have said that Trump decided to start a war with Iran because Bush's approval ratings went up as a wartime president and Trump hated his own approval ratings. The difference is obviously that Americans backed that war because of 9/11, something his administration seems to be aware of. So I would not be surprised to see a disaster happen again. On another note, my ex and I broke up in Dec. due to his looming deployment to Africa. As in very close to Iran area of Africa. Being no contact I just love that I have no idea if the loml is even alive anymore especially with the possibility of a ground invasion .
xxxdreams 168
A ground invasion of Iran would be a nightmare for the U.S. for many reasons (for one, geography), and Iran is well aware of that. In fact, they're counting on it.

Lucas 31,087
I read 1/2 days ago that the USA are sending 2000 soldiers to Middle East (don't know if true or not) so that seems like what they're going for?

Now that we know that isn't true...we should be very worried because now the homeland can be hit. Worse yet, Department of Homeland security is currently shutdown and the head of US Counterterrorism resigned...we are officially cooked Edited March 21 by Lord Mayhem

It's true, but they were already on orders to go there before all of this happened. The US keeps a presence in the region anyways, but apparently those 2,000 people are now going several weeks ahead of when they originally were meant to. Worse yet, Department of Homeland security is currently shutdown and the head of US Counterterrorism resigned...we are officially cooked Nah, I wouldn't be worried about that. Iran doesn't pose a military threat to the U.S. homeland and the civilians inside it, especially in the way of missiles. That would be impossible. Actually, it's impossible to hurt the U.S. homeland or invade it in general. The only thing that'd be able to defeat the U.S. is itself, as in a civil war, and I don't mean that in a losing-a-war kind of way. I mean that as in its territorial integrity and sovereignty being threatened, which is not possible. They will lose a ground invasion of Iran if it happens though. No shot they'd be successful. I'm not even going to get into the potential issues of a draft happening.

Lol. On the bright side any sort of long range weapon would be detected way ahead of reaching land and would be intercepted. But it still puts those operating in closer proximity to Iran at risk as well as US partners. Also, I feel strongly that anyone actually close to "real" counterterrorism work is a patriot or at least attempting to make appearances as such for career opportunities and would still go into work unpaid during the partial shutdown. I'm less worried about actual terrorism attacks than an inside job to boost war support.

It's probably like you said. It was going to happen, and the war just accelerated the process. 2 minutes ago, AsleepOnTheCeiling said: I don't understand that logic because it's "they were weeks from a nuclear weapon" but also apparently didn't have the range to hit us? They were spewing this rhetoric about Iran being days, weeks, or months away from acquiring a nuclear weapon for YEARS. I'm not even kidding, you can go look that up. Benjamin Netanyahu has been saying this since 1995. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiPfqVAQVhs Iran has said many times that its nuclear program is peaceful, that it is not making weapons, and that it is ready for inspections so its nuclear program can be fully verified. Well we already have 50,000 in the region anyways, so 2,000 isn't gonna make all that much of a difference anyways. I believe part of the 2,000 was the replacement ship for the ship that caught fire a few days ago. I 100% believe that it's been a narrative for decades. From what I've heard, Netanyahu has asked every president over the past 20 years to go to war against Iran with them but Trump was the first one dumb enough to say yes. MOT 3,605
Just to clarify, it isn't the US that's considering a ground invasion of Iran. It's Trump.
TheARTPOPball 1,621
Deeply concerned and sorry for the innocent members of the US military that will lose their lives in the pointless war. And even more upset that there is nothing I can do about it.
