Where does that imply he cares about Opera & Ballet and thinks they are underappreciated?

The quote answers that question.... by saying no one cares about them he says they're underappreciated. Ofc he is being hyperbolic, obviously not "no one" cares about Ballet and Opera, but they're less appreciated than film, music, TV, and even broadway, even though that industry suffering too.

He never argued WHY Opera and Ballet are falling behind in popularity. I feel like the impression people are getting from him is that Baller and Opera are inferior artforms, when nothing he said implies that.

If I thought something was underappreciated, I would fight for it and push people to give it more appreciation, especially if I was lucky to have a platform like that, instead of making this kind of comment 🤷‍♀️

He states no one cares about them.

He doesn't state they are underappreciated.

Those are two very different things with two different motivations.

And given the context is him saying he would not want to work in those areas - what leads you to believe he appreciates them or sees them as underappreciated?

Really not an actors responsibility to save a separate art form.

He say's that because they're not funded. Not because he thinks they're inferior.

Seem pretty disrespectful to Ballet as an art to not take the class though:/

Artists live or die together.

The arts are facing the exact same challenges.

Rising production costs, reduced accessibility to training due to cost increases and audiences being priced out due to inflation.

The only difference is live theatre, music, dance etc are protected from current AI capabilities. Film is not.

And on what information do you base this? Because it isn't what he said, and he actively said he doesn't want to do that art form.

His prior comment to the Opera comment makes his attitude even clearer.

"if people want to see it, like Barbie, like Oppenheimer, they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.”

So, there's nothing in the interview to suggest he holds a positive view of the artforms. If anything, the wider interview further solidifies the claim that he doesn't care about the artforms.
