In a speech in Brittany, President Emmanuel Macron explained the changes as the response to an increasingly unstable strategic environment. He said eight other European countries – the UK, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Sweden and Denmark – had agreed to participate in a new "advanced deterrence" strategy. Writing on X, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk referenced the decision, saying: "We are arming up together with our friends so that our enemies will never dare to attack us." He added that France's partners would also share in the development of "auxiliary" capacities under the new nuclear doctrine: space-based alarm systems; air defence to shoot down incoming drones and missiles; and long-range missiles. I'm glad European countries are trying to become more independant from Trump's government but this world truly doesn't need more nuclear weapons.. Im glad allies (beyond the US) are shoring up capacity but at the same time it also emboldens enemies to do the same More military power is only good as long as the fear creates a stalemate and its never actually used. On one hand it is quite honorable to see France protecting not just itself but its surrounding allies who are most at risk of escalated war and missle threats. On the other hand, shifting NUCLEAR weapons around is not to be taken lightly. Remember, world governments have intel that 80% doesnt get divulged to the public. We only know what they tell us but clearly the global tension and escalation of recent events has placed countries on edge on how to carry forward.
