More analog in sound but quite dark in the lyrics and overall mood. Also just a very good song I love when someone references a québécoise pop diva icitte 😍

They just see rock as Ozzy/Alice Cooper darkness 2. They think biblical imagery/darker narratives make it dark pop. And like i get it but sonically its not that dark. Its like how Florence + the Machine deals with a lot of dark themes in all of her work. But not all of her music is dark, some is deliberately light while working with dark topics. Exactly this. Florence lyrics are dark and littered with religious allusion and imagery… but she’s not dark pop, or what we think as “dark pop” at all. HotLikeMexico 5,996
Pretty Hate Machine by NIN is their most pop record, I think it fits the bill even tho it’s still more so industrial Violator by Depeche Mode Girl with No Face by Allie X is probably my favorite dark pop record of recent times. More on the poppy side but it’s also very goth alot of Mylene Farmer is dark pop, songs like ”Sans Logique” “ Je Te Rends ton Amour” “Beyond My Control” “Ainsi Soit Je” For all the pop girlies here, check out Madeline Goldstein, I recently found her and she sounds like if Madonna and Depeche Mode had a child. Sometimes distorted instruments and gritty sounds. Lyrically leaning towards heavy emotions, moodiness, vulnerability" your definition is how I think of this song, not sure why Bloody Mary would be dark but this wouldn't, this has grittier synths, both have dark choir vocals and mention things like blood and death

ChvVolk 2,447 Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:30 AM I mainly listen to Darkwave, and I myself create Dark Noise Pop. If im strictly listening to what people consider "pop". Then there's Birds of Prey by Christina Aguilera. Non top 40 pop, you can consider songs like The Warden by Chelsea Wolfe, Predict the Day by Ladytron, Anything by Boy Harsher. But I think those draw a fine line between what people consider "pop".
Jarvin 1,407 Posted yesterday at 01:01 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:01 AM Madonna’s Rebel Heart had some! Ghosttown and Illuminati… loved that. Besides that… i dont really know! Only Gaga and Madonna can really serve it for me…
Creyk 18,189
From Gaga, Monster , Dance In The Dark, Government Hooker qualify From another act: For the longest time I longed to find a Gaga AI cover of this song, this is 100% catchy dark bop and with Gaga's vocals it would be on another level.
