She even kind of explained that in that Zane Lowe interview when she stated she made the effort to not commit to a sound/vibe specifically. Wherever she goes next I just hope she at least keeps that in mind cause one of the best things on MAYHEM imo is precisely that Like imagine her going back and trying to shoehorn Zombieboy into the industrial grunge aesthetic…MESS! I couldn’t agree more because what I love the most about MAYHEM is that it feels like the fulfillment of what ARTPOP aspired to be: an album that feels unbound by expectations where she truly just created whatever felt right, had fun doing it, and made a collection of sensational bangers. I can definitely see an inclination towards rock and/or industrial and/or darkpop but for lg8 to be mayhem 2.0 would be so unexpected to me precisely bc it's already an expectation for her next work. Unless... I don't see being out of the table, to be honest. It would be weird if she were to label LG8 as a completely unrelated album, but it would make sense if it was released under the idea of a sister album. And - this is my personal take -, I don't see her completely changing directions for the next one (even tho we are used to it). She showed she's at her best with MAYHEM and, most importantly, I think she's at a point where she's actively looking up for what her legacy will be when she leaves the scene. Having two albums on the same nerve to define her overall discography feels more than correct to me Edited 11 hours ago by elegidadedios

But what scene? Like her career in the music industry is already established: she's the bigger artist alive, the chameleonest chameleon to ever exist, carrie-bradshaw-women-cant-be-tamed-gif. That's her legacy imo, something that will never change no matter what genres she explores next. Also Gaga is a workaholic and I don't think she's ever leaving any scene fr either I don't believe in the glorification of murder, I do believe in the empowerment of women

I agree on what you said but I still stand on my words, mostly because albums like Chromatica don't help to cement that definition. I used to dream about what her next 10 albums would be called like, how many copies they would sell... I named LG5 "JOANNE" My mind Sidenote: I was wrong about its success, though Edited 11 hours ago by elegidadedios
Ziggy 12,901
Mmmmmm I don't think she needs to do pure jazz anymore. If anything, integrate it better into the LG music because it would be cooler and more artistically distinguishing. It's always been my one thing about her jazz work. It's cool. I love C2C, but she compartmentalizes her career so much. 4
NewUsername 11,669
Whatever genre it is, I'm still waiting for that completely self written and self produced album. MAYHEM got close to it, probably her least collaborative album? EDIT: If I counted correctly, MAYHEM actually isn't. Well, at least not if you count the writing credits of the Abra interpolation. The Fame: 11 writers and/or producers, including Gaga The Fame Monster: 13 BTW: 11 ARTPOP: 21 Joanne: 13 Chromatica: 28 MAYHEM: 12 Edited 10 hours ago by NewUsername

bim 753
I’d kind of love a lowkey era that comes sooner. Some 90s grunge, industrial rock. Almost like her version of Jagged Little Pill with a bit more grit to it. Maybe a small residency attached to it. Would also love to see her do a much more theatrical, cabaret leaning Harlequin with all original music. Tracks in the sound of Mein Herr with her own spin to it. Even create a new alter ego to tell the story of it all. 1
Alxjcgn 1,628
I want her to go into rock/metal. She has the voice for it and her theatrical ability/creativity would allow for amazing music videos/performances/album concept. I feel like she hasn't gone in that direction because most of her fans enjoy her screams while performing, but I really don't see her fanbase liking it (it would land itself in the same reputation Joanne has). BUT- I also imagine it would appeal to rock/metal fans who already respect her and so it would still be wildly successful.
