Sometimes I’d put 3 high because it has that replay value and the nostalgia makes me appreciate it right now and some other times I’d put it at the bottom if I truly want to rank them in what they are as a standalone movie. If I had to rank the recent movies I’d say 6 > 7 > 5. Part VI has been fun and the NYC setting was a nice take, I really like that they finally let the franchise stand on it’s own without Sidney for once but at the same time I’m not that crazy about the killers. 5 and 7 reveals make so much sense today in the age of stan culture. I’ve only watched 7 once and plan to go again but I can see this going higher in my list with time. Valid points and I like your perspective! Personally, I have felt disconnected from the last 3 films and it almost felt like I forced myself to enjoy them. All have some fun parts and good things about them, but overall they just didn't give me the same Scream feeling like the first 3. This one felt more aligned with those. 4 felt like Sidney was just kinda tacked onto the Jill storyline and she felt like a secondary character. It's kinda fun but the final 20-30 min brought the film way down imo. Not to mention the awful filter throughout the movie. 5 was fun and I liked a lot of what they did but I didn't feel the Carpenter sisters storylines (nor the actresses) pulled me in the way the originals did. 5 didn't really feel like it started until they went to visit Dewey, so you have to sit through a lot to get to the better part of the film. The killer reveal was nearly as bad as 4 and completely unbelievable for one of them. It's miles better than 6 though. 6 was just a mess. There's some cool scenes but overall too gory, Sidney's absence was very apparent and brought the film down, and the ending was awful. The suspension of disbelief is so high like the main characters are immortal atp.

whoresup 3,412
Hopefully this means they’ll carry on making them. Wish they would bring back the vibe of the first movie as that seems to be most people's favourite.

Emvee 8,762
What’s with the sudden popularity of the Scream franchise? Everything after 2 was trash and felt like a low budget sci-fi channel movie
monstertoronto 11,296
I thought this one was really fun but the reveaL and the ending was weak. The motivation wash worst in the series for me, but the rest of the film was so fun to watch.

Yes, also Chad and Mindy were completely useless and Tatum apparently lost her Gen Z ability to use a cellphone because she's never calling the police

And I agree Tatum had the survival instincts of a koala. When she’s being pursued in the street what was that super slow loping spinning around while yelling.

Roughhouse Dandy 13,227
Unfortunately probably the worst installment. They had an uphill battle after the firing and rewrites, but I didn't think they'd mess it up this much. And the box office is rewarding them for a train wreck so I worry the future is only bring more degradation of the franchise until it dies a painful death. I hope that's not the case. djBuffoon 12,220
Been a Scream fan since (gulp) 1996. I love the first two, but every one since then has been a bit weaker than the one before, to me. I was hoping this one would beat the trend and stand out, but it was probably the worst one in the series. Still a decent slasher with some great moments, but it didn't have the wit that even the more recent ones had. Neve is a queen, though.
