I don't care that the cost of putting on tours has gone up. So has the cost of living. The amount of money made from successful tours at reasonable prices is more than enough to cover all the expenses involved. A 67 date tour should not incur expenses that exceed anywhere near $1bn. It's not even covering 67 countries or even 67 cities, he's literally doing residences at SEVEN venues in just SIX countries (Netherlands, UK, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Australia). Therefore, it's not like there's a ton of money being spent on plane tickets and fuel costs. And 30 of those dates are at an arena, so no excuse of stadium pricing there. So, working out at roughly $20 million per date on average, that is really extortionate on a level I've never seen before. This will only encourage big names to do the same. And they'll keep doing it until we say enough is enough.

It's funny but true. I thought the same thing. To be fair, if I think anyone's worth spending that money on a ticket, it's Gaga. She's got lots of #1's, sold millions, performed at the Superbowl 3 times, has 16 Grammys, an Emmy and an Oscar, so she's got the longevity and accolade clout to demand high prices at least. And she's multi talented and an all-round great person. But an artist who's a former boybander who's only made 3 albums asking for prices like this? No way. I've said multiple times, I will never understand why being good looking is enough for girls to buy your music, merch and want to hand over a month's wages to see you live.

Gaga making ~$3 million from every Mayhem Ball is already disgusting, he's making ~$20 million per show (his tour has 50 dates, I believe).

I hope this industry crashes tbh. Or at least that these big artists get nothing but bored influencers and casuals that leave before the encore in their shows until they make concerts accessible again.

Honest question, after venue costs, transport, employee costs (dancers, camera crew, etc.) and taxes, how much do you think she pockets? I’ve always wondered this.

And still there are artists who tour, and who tour more cities in more contries, also put on a big production... and yet their ticket prices are reasonable. I had front row tickets for Kylie Minogue in Berlin and paid 120 €.

Especially smaller artists can't put on these prices and I often see messages about someone cancelling their tour because the amount of tickets sold doesn't even out the production costs.

If everyone would refuse to buy tickets at these high prices and venues would be in danger to stay empty, the prices would be lowered. When P!nk played a second night in Hanover during her last tour, half of the tickets was still available just a few weeks before the show. They marked down whole sections from 180 to 115 €. And gues what... the shows were sold out!

But FOMO will prevent such things and the nex time tickets will be another 20 % more expensive...

I really have no idea how it breaks down but that's a massive profit margin for one show and it's going to somebody. Similar sized tours make significantly less than that in profits and still do just fine. Everyone gets paid without fans having to buy $500 nosebleeds.
