Why weren't there more Mayhem singles?

With Chromatica, there was the covid epidemic which caused a lot of the promo plans for the album and its singles to be cancelled.

Do we know why there wasn't more singles from Mayhem? Mayb stuff going on behind the scenes.

The reason I ask this is because I truly believe this was the best Gaga album since Born This Way. There were so many choices for singles such as:

1. Zombieboy

2. Garden Of Eden

3. Shadow Of A Man

4. Vanish Into You

5. Don't Call Tonight

6. Perfect Celebrity

7. How Bad Do You Want Me

I just feel disappointed because because I felt we deserved 5 more videos and could've been the biggest era of Gaga's career with so many options for #1-5 singles.

These older artists don't have the drive that Dua had during FN. They're so rich and complacent. When you've got banger after banger, then smh why don't they want more #1s.

because dua is a newer artist and FN was her sophomore album so she needed to keep getting her name out there and adding hits to her roster

gaga and her peers have a strong rotation of hits they can live off of forever, even katy perry can live of hers despite them all being over 10 years old

cus big artists don't really release singles post album anymore unless they release something new or it explodes on tiktok

Yea I mean I think she knows that her fans are going to listen to the entire album, and she realistically could release an album that had no singles and we as a fanbase are big enough to keep it afloat. I also think she knows that she could keep putting out singles and getting #1 hits, but the singles she puts out are meaningful in the way she wants them to introduce/highlight the album. She doesn't need to promote as much as she did when she first hit the scene... its just how iconic she is.

I just wish visual albums were a thing but I know they are costly and don't do them anymore.

However, in the age of social media...you're telling me you can't make videos for a social media audience? Really?

As others have said, in the streaming age older acts release less as they generally get less traction.

But its also an industry wide issue - post release singles are 99% dead.

Look at Sabrina - her album sold really well, she's not touring. Her last album single came in release week.

Olivia Dean has blown up massively for her sophomore - but we've had no new singles since the album released (and the preexisting singles have done well on their own steam).

Singles & music videos are too expensive compared to what they return. The only benefit of them currently is that they can push pre-orders. Once an album is out, there's nothing left to push.

Future Nostalgia only got the number of singles it did because they had a clear goal of keeping momentum moving into the tour post-lockdown.

And its the success of post-lockdown tours that accelerated the death march of singles.

Monstermilo

cuz ppl let abra flop

not really but that shouldve easily been a number one song.... 13 peak is sad for how viral it went

i think if abra had charted higher, gaga wouldve cared more about promoting and releasing singles.

There were essentially four, which is a very good number in 2026.

Also, Covid was a convenient excuse for abandoning the Chromatica era. Gaga did not want to be there.

Unless you’re Taylor who is obsessed with charts, most artists only release single pre-release and then once the album is out, that’s it. In the streaming and TikTok era, they just let anyone decide to make little videos with whatever song and let that be the promo. I wish she would have released more singles too as there are so many good ones but I think this is just the reality in this era.
