Backstreet Boys Petition TO Be Next Half Time Show Performers. Want to Bring Britney

The Backstreet Boys are back, again.

The boy band is in the middle of their residency at Las Vegas' Sphere, yet they’re already setting their sights on their next big act: the Super Bowl halftime show.

“I just started an online petition on behalf of the group for us to do halftime 2027,” AJ McLean shares with PEOPLE. “You better vote yes for us to do halftime, especially because it's gonna be in Los Angeles at SoFi next year. That's home for me and Kevin [Richardson], so that would be pretty awesome.”

Nick Carter says their performance would be a “pop explosion" full of other music icons from the '90s and early 2000s.

“We're bringing back Britney Spears, we're bringing back *NSYNC,” Carter says of their would-be performance, to which McLean chimed in, “They both already did it, though."

Spears and *NSYNC performed at the Super Bowl XXXV Halftime show in 2001, joining Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and Nelly. At the time, the Backstreet Boys declined to join the performance, instead singing the national anthem that year.

“We’re bringing back 98 Degrees, I don't care. We're headlining,” Carter says. “We're bringing all of our pop friends back; it would be something like that."

"We're biased because we really think that our era of music, coming from the late '90s, early 2000s, is probably some of the most nostalgic for people and makes people feel good. We're part of a club of all those artists that you'd have to bring them back," he adds.

If anything she deserves to be a headliner and not just a guest of theirs.
But we know that neither is happening.

I'd rather think they might do shared stage like not guest stars, just like what DR Dre did in 2022 :flower:

Economy

I feel like only a specific segment of the population would be excited for backstreet boys performance, mainly white women between ages 30 and 45 and maybe the occasional gay man (in same age group)

I feel like literally almost no one else would care for them!

Britney at least would have a little more broad appeal to a slightly wider audience (but she wont do it)

Britney at her prime really should have had been a Halftime Show performer. She would have danced the house down. Especially during her “Britney” era.

Her peak as a performer and artist was In The Zone, she was absolutely unstoppable

The Onyx Hotel tour was so good. But I think she was already pretty big at Britney era. The Dream Within A Dream was such a stellar tour. I still remember when she was suspended in the air and got all wet. That tour should have guaranteed her a spot at the Halftime show. Anytime between 2001-2004 would have had been a good time for her.

No one under the age of 40 is gonna want this. I mean I would rather see a joining of the generational pop girls (Madonna, Britney, Gaga and Taylor)

Maybe in 1996?

Britney could be a headliner though. She should have been. That's in the past now probably. I'll be very surprised if she ever performs again.

You like the fat girl I got in me 🍕

I’m here for Backstreet Boys eventually but I desperately need a female performer next year like Britney or P!nk.

the onyx hotel tour aesthetic omfg :icant:it was the first concert tour i know with 3D video screens :enigma: if only she hadn’t met K-Fed and injuring herself during the Outrageous mv shoot, i think she would’ve gone on to do the superbowl halftime in 2005- that eventually gone to Paul Mccartney :neyde:
