Reggaeton has incorporated elements of tropical rhythms such as salsa, merengue, and bachata. While salsa is based on orchestral percussion (congas, timbales), reggaeton uses a syncopated, electronically produced rhythmic base. But both genres share the influence of the African diaspora and Latin identity, and are often heard in similar contexts, which has led to fusions like "salsatón."

Correct, I literally acknowledged that (hence why I said Reggaeton and Salsa share Afro-Cuban rhythmic roots).

Diva, you said a genre that is less than 100 years old was the “mother” of genres that are at least 100-200 years old. Go to bed.

And that's why salsa it's the mother genre. Cause reggeatón incorporate things of salsa genre 😮‍💨 You probably don't even know reggeaton evolution, and how salsa it's like 50% present in reggeaton music productions.

Cumbia literally originates in the 18th century, so yeah, it’s about 200 years old. Plena is from the turn of the 20th century, so it’s over 100 years old as well. Reggaeton was the only genre you listed that’s younger than salsa, which I acknowledged having shared rhythmic roots with salsa and being influenced by it. You good, diva? No one’s making you be wrong over and over again in public, you can literally stop whenever.

No sweetheart, what you are reading from internet because you are not Latin, it's not the cumbia, or plena, that mark latín América music. Cumbia and Plena started to make noise in the 1950-1970. Literally, You don't know latín american music cause You don't live here, You just reading, it's not the territorial reality 😵‍💫

You quoted someone else saying “thank you”  who said the *opposite* of what you were saying lol. The user you quoted earlier, rightfully, said salsa is the synthesis of many pre-existing Latin genres, making it a good bridge between them and you turned around and acted like salsa came before genres that existed for decades to almost 100 years before them. Again, you’re allowed to be wrong, but the fact that you’re crashing out this bad about being wrong isn’t a great look for you, sister.
