Why would a revised version not sound good? They revised DWAS - why couldn’t they do the same for Americano? Explain

Because it's a song only fans know, not the general public. I agree that she probably doesn't choose the song. You could easily say that all of Bad Bunny's songs aren't well-known, but that's not the case. He used ALL well-known songs. That wouldn't have been the case with "Americano."

The fact that Bad Bunny invited her to perform even though they never had any collab means how much of a fan he is

I feel many people are going to run with the "she forced him" narrative :poot:

It was Benito's show, with Apple Music likely having a voice in how it turned out because they sponsor it. He likely picked her and Ricky and asked them to sing specific songs.

She likely didn't pick it, these type of things are planned out way, way in advance and Apple Music helps sponsor the half time show. Like it or not, DWAS is one of the most streamed songs of "all" time, even if a lot of little monsters are ambivalent and stan twitter is meh on it. For most little monsters, her classics are BTW, Bad Romance, arguably Abrcadabra, Shallow, etc. But for normies, DWAS is massive...even more so than Shallow.

So yeah, Bad Bunny and Apple wanting DWAS makes a lot of sense.

I never said “why did Gaga decide to sing DWAS” though

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Yeah, I mean Americano is already written in a mariachi style lol. She could’ve performed it the way she performed it at J&P and it would’ve worked. I love what they did with DWAS and I thought it was heartwarming and sweet, but tryna say Americano wouldn’t fit musically or thematically is wild, imo.

ok, so here's the thing, Mariachi is a Mexican genre of music that ,while widespread throughout LATAM and the US, is still heavily related to Mexican culture.

Salsa, on the other hand, is a genre born form the fusion of Cuban music and jazz, making it more fitting to the theme of Latinxs in the US, since it's a sincretic genre from it's inception.

Americano cannot be that easily reworked into salsa while DWS could, and also DWS is just the bigger song

Im Not into this version but Gaga looks great and wow those vocals. Loved to see her

I had the same reaction but it grew on me a lot :icant: I find it weird that they changed the arrangement but she didn't sing it differently :triggered: at least the verse, that part was a mess :brat:

Thanks 😃 And I will add, that Salsa it's like the mother of a lot of genres in latín músic. Plena, cumbia, rkt, funk, etc.

That’s totally fair, but given that he did also shoutout every country in LATAM at the end of the show, a nod to mariachi wouldn’t necessarily be out of place (not to mention the relevance of the political message). I agree that DWAS was the right choice for a number of reasons (it’s a song everyone knows, translates to salsa which fit the overall rhythm of the performance better, was a nice way to open the wedding sequence), but I was mostly just commenting that it’s not as if suggesting that Americano could’ve fit into the show is a ridiculous suggestion.

Yeah, that boils down to under rehearsal, imo. She was clearly just working from muscle memory from how she sings it on tour and didn’t have time to finesse it into a new genre voicing
