Siena 6,383
I absolutely LOVED this performance and really hope it's an indicator for what is to come. Also it totally gave similar vibes as the DITD / Telephone performance from the Brits. 3 1

I wish our girl isnt constantly stressed with the lack of preparation form her team.

Richy isn’t there anymore to do that, I don’t think it’s her team’s fault if they sometimes do things at the last moment

She absolutely wouldn't be doing this - putting together award show performances when she's no doubt had to lose sleep and tour recovery time to make it happen - if she wasn't fully feeling it. A combination of Michael, TCB, Harlequin (the album) and the Mayhem era have revived her. You only have to look at her performing lately - and, frankly, listen to the studio recording of Abracadabra - to know that's true. And in a way, I actually think this Grammy performance was the best demonstration of her revival yet. It's edginess, boldness and accidental but proud defiance (in terms of subverting expectations) shows how she really has found a way back to her artistic and rebellious spirit - just on healthier terms now and, this time, with a love, stronger than her love for art, that keeps her grounded and enables a more sustainable approach to being Lady Gaga... but certainly not an artistically-reduced one. say it louder for the people in the back! 8 hours ago, Quartz said: I'm curious how she rehearsed this. Was she doing this on the plane 😭 "M'am, we're about to land, please stop performing and take a seat"
27monster27 14,953
This reminds me of the old days when she would do anything to perform unless she absolutely couldn't. I love seeing that her fire has come back so strongly. (Though I'd argue that it never truly left.) he/him/his

TAIPEI 2,943
actually i don't think she must have/needs to perform necessary. i cant believe being just saw her at mayhem ball @ tokyo dome in person at the end of january, and two days later watch her fly from tokyo to los angeles ready to attend + perform at the grammys. this kind of performance environment and schedules are too high-pressure for her, it's not good for her body health and mental well-being. but still, she's dealing with it like a boss as our expected, and made one of the most iconic performance the night xo thats why i love her from the bottom of my <3 and cares about her health issue. It quite possibly was the first time a live performance programmed like this entirely done with a robotic arm was ever done. My assumption is they sent over videos of the rehearsal but it’s confirmed that the programming was done by the team of the Grammys, assumably with a stand-in. Eurovision rehearses the show with stand-ins before the artists arrive too.
Sneaky Oliver 22,634
I hate that he said it was basically a last minute thing instead of an artistic choice I mean Gaga could easily have done an acoustic/ piano moment if she wanted to, not having dancers is not exactly what made her create that rock version
YoyoMa 30
despite the performance being put together last-minute and minimalistic, i'm kinda glad that she brought the tech back in her ARTPOP
