This needs to stop. I'll pay whatever I need to for Beyoncé's act iii tour, but then I think that'll be it. Only small bands/acts for me, I'm still feeling shitty about how much I paid for the Mayhem Ball. Best concert of my life, sure, but nothing calls for these kind of prices.

That's crazy tho, though concerts and merch are the only way artists getting munnies anymore. But this is a bit high

No it hasn’t been passed as a law yet and only Ticketmaster is adhering to it, basically Ticketmaster has a policy where tickets sold by them MUST be resold through their resale option and I believe they can no longer be sold as more than the original price. but the downside is if someone purchases a ticket that was purchased from Ticketmaster it can be sold through other means BUT if it is found to have been resold then the tickets become void. This happened to Ariana Grande fans who bought tickets resold from TM on a third party site. Another diabolical part of it is the seller gets refunded for the void ticket but the person who bought the resale doesn’t.

Paying 1k and NOT getting a meet & greet doesn’t sit well with me. I knew someone who paid 1k at artRAVE back in 2014 but that included a M&G and pic with Gaga. Now all you get for 1k is a seat, sometimes a private bar and merch…

You guys I will say to be devil’s advocate, those ticket prices have to be split between everyone involved in the tour. More often than not artists actually dont make anything off tours anymore, Live Nation etc normally gives artists money upfront for tours nowadays. 

The money is to pay for, the band, the lighting, the light tech people, the music tech people, the costumes, the hairstylists, the makeup artists, the rent for the venue for the evening (Wembley for example infamously charges almost 1m just for the use of the stadium) the tour buses, the bus drivers, the money for the fuel for the buses, the airfare for the crew, the visas for the crew in every country the list goes on and on. It costs millions upon millions of dollars to have a world tour.

It’s quite the opposite, we have seen more artists going on tour more and faster after an album release than before, where actually a lot of them will announce the tour even before the album release.
Music itself is not as profitable as before because of streaming rules and services nowadays and even though it takes a lot to put on a concert it’s just delusional saying tours won’t make them lots of money.

those artists that don’t make much or any money from touring are small artists, not biggest names in the industry who play in arenas/stadiums. They want to be at the top of the lists of the biggest and most profitable tours so their tickets are so expensive.

Since he’s doing the residency model in just a few cities, he knows the majority of his fans coming to see these shows will be flying in specifically to see him. With him having to spend less for travelling to different stadiums, and just staying put (30 shows in MSG in NYC alone!!) he’s saving so much money on setup and breakdown costs, and shopping costs, and travel costs. Knowing his fans have to pay for travel and accommodation to see him now, and for the exact same reason he’s saving tons of money NOT having to ship things and travel himself, I can’t believe he is also gouging the fans with higher ticket prices than ever before. And I’m someone who is willing to pay for expensive tickets generally. The prices for this tour are greedy and annoying.
