I expected more streams from the UK to a British artist, especially an acclaimed one like Styles.

And in general it has always been low in the UK in the last 20 years, even more maybe but I don't remember much.

I think piracy really messed up music consumption in the UK.

I mean I just think you don't really understand that population density, audience age demographics andthe spread of audiences across multiple platforms define streaming numbers.

Only half of the UK (32 million) use streaming, and 47% of that is on Spotify. Amazon has a 26% market share and Apple Music clocks in at 20%.

The older generations predominately still embrace Radio in the UK.

The streaming numbers on spotify are "low" because the market size is only 16 million users. And its declining and going to other platforms.

I know that and it does make sense, but I'm thinking more in a wider sense, the consumption has always looked "low", an album can debut with under 50k these days, Gerry Cinnamon has the lowest #1 debut of the decade.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I’m honestly shocked at the Taylor dominance. Every time I see stats like this it surprises me. Like album deep cuts performing way better than anticipated lead singles.

MJ, Madonna, Prince, Gaga, name a legend and nine times out of ten they're American :ally:

Jazz, country, rock, blues, r&b, hip-hop, house, electronic, disco, soul, and everything in-between? All us, baby :v:

The UK has The Beatles but even they trace their musical inspiration back to American rock 'n roll :ally:

Music is actually one of the best reasons to have a little pride in American culture tbh. Much of it in black culture specifically.

Queen, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Peppa Pig, The Rolling Stones, Ed Sheeran, George Michael, Spice Girls, Depeche Mode, Teletubbies, Elton John ... all made better music than any American artist.

Ten years later, it's been a decade
