To go down a route that nobody could predict, just to be contrary. That could be an interesting approach, were it not that the lyrical themes of the album are supposed to be very sincere, tragic and deep-rooted in her history as a person. I believe most of these songs on paper. But the production, the marketing and even the fashion made it feel like she was hiding herself more than ever. This. Whatever story she was trying to sell I wasn't buying it (and I'm not talking the about music). It felt forced, and you could tell from the way she went back to the Gaga "persona" every other week, she couldn't help herself. Decodekid 29,180
I think being appreciative and understanding of The Fame is so fundamental to understand so much of her storytelling in music. Like even songs that most of you find silly/cringe like Plastic Doll or HBDUWM are so core Gaga, and If you don't get that humor/narrative tf are you doing here... chronic 223
Telephone Pt. 2 is not going to happen. Gaga was fibbing when teasing it early in the Mayhem era. I believe something happened between B and Gaga since Telephone’s release that turned B off.
DavidLuis198 1,222
Do What U Want is a great song, and people defend that she should just release a solo version or officially add the Christina Aguilera remix to ARTPOP. But even when you take out the whole R. Kelly fiasco, it is still a song that reflects the really twisted way of thinking Gaga had when she was living a really hard time mentally in her career and that’s reason enough for this song to not exist. You can see it when she said “just another piece of ass for you to buy. You will not have my heart or mind, because you don't deserve it. I would give it to my fans because they would receive it with love... When I look at how society has changed, I feel like this is a good time to show you my ass, because it’s all I choose to give you” about the cover art. And then in 2019, she confirmed herself that her “thinking was ‘explicitly twisted’ and that she had ‘poor judgement’ at that time.” I do believe and defend that art is meant to be uncomfortable sometimes, and that we must consume art looking at its context, but Gaga is not wrong in trying to delete this song of her catalogue, especially after she started being so vocal about issues of abuse and sexual assault in recent years. 8 hours ago, TheFrenchGuy said: not liking the disease video because it does not have choreo Or thinking that the video is not "dark" just because everything is happening in the daylight, it's like some people purposely refuse to engage with anything that isn't a cliché I don't know how to write in english
timdrake 1,297
the hill I die on is that I still want the DWUW video to leak, and I REALLY don't think it would affect her career in any significant way. she's already disowned it and explained her thought process at that time. the SNL and AMA performances were raunchy enough to cause controversy while it was happening... I can't imagine 12 years later seeing something she's already apologized for and effectively erased from her catalog garnering her GP punishment & backlash. I'm also a big big big lost media fan, so from that perspective, I wanna see.
timdrake 1,297
oh and I still contend that Perfect Illusion doesn't have a chorus. it has a pre-chorus and that's it. but I still love it!

KindnessPunk 2,115
Hmmm I guess for me it’s that people are way too harsh on Chromatica. So many of you are quick to toss it aside as if it should be forgotten and to that I say…go re-listen to GAGA RADIO: EP 1, she really explains how it was really impactful to her life and was a way for her to move forward, and that Bloodpop was truly a friend to her in this time. We forget that art is what Gaga does, and it’s not always about what the fans want. Sometimes artists need to make things that help them move through tough times and for me Chromatica is a perfect and triumphant example of this. There would be NO Mayhem without Chromatica…just sayin (Oh maybe this isn’t a “hill” but I think its so interesting how the GP and even the fans consider Mayhem to be return to form, as if Chromatica wasn’t that already. I think it’s just Chromatica wasn’t the return that alot of fans expected, they wanted dark visuals as if “dark visuals” = Gaga…she’s so much more than that)

I am saying this cause it seems like everybody here was wet Midsommar when it came out.

Apologies and her explanation of the thought process won't beat the "Check out the leak of this old raunchy video of Gaga with convicted sex criminal R Kelly!" headlines Do you feel him sir?
