That's actually more than I expected :laughga:

I'm quite curious about who the producers are with Teddy gone. He did an incredible job for all these years

I notice many K-POP albums recently don't even bother showing the artists faces...do they not want to pay for the use of their image? :reductive:

Hopefully the songs have more of Jump sound to them. I loved Jump and that sound really suits them.

I really think they peaked with If It's Your Last. After that is just try hard music.

The label would have the right to use their faces for an album cover if they have an artist deal and if they had a distribution deal I still can’t imagine they wouldn’t have the right to use their images. My guess is they just like the minimalist aesthetic OR they’re trying to preserve the viability of these older albums if there was ever a time they they ended up replacing one or more of the girls in the group. If they changed the lineup of Blackpink it wouldn’t be noticeable visually from the album covers. I think this is very unlikely with specially Blackpink tho because every member is already so well known.

Ugh not YG paying dust to their artists again. Literally in 1 year, these girls released more solo songs than they have released as blackpink :messga:

It has always been YG’s strategy. A large gap in between comeback closer to western release cycle and push all singles to become hits and group them as album. Even for Bigbang during their Made era, which was arguably more impactful than Blackpink in Asia, they release 2 songs every month and almost all songs ended up on the album were hit singles. It worked for a while until fans become impatient especially for newer groups. That’s why groups like Winner, Treasure and BabyMonster don’t do as well as their contemporary from SM or JYP. YG had so much potential with AKMU but their strategies cant help up and coming artists until they become big like Bigbang and Blackpink.

They need to go back to this. When they had some soul in their music. 2016 was such a good year for k-pop girl groups.

Literally all their album covers look like the placeholders that websites use for upcoming releases. Not even unprofessional enough to look fanmade, just void.
