She delivered some of the greatest live performances of all time (Coachella, Copacabana, and the Mayhem Ball), pulled a record-breaking 2.5 million people in Brazil, released a critically acclaimed album, gave us the best music video of 2025 (Abracadabra), landed the biggest smash hit of the year (DWAS), killed it on SNL, casually picked up an Emmy and another Grammy (EGO status!), and became the most-nominated female artist this year with 7 Grammy nods. And yet Billboard wants to tell me that Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny (no shade) were the greatest pop stars of the past year? If “greatest” just meant sales, then sure I’d get it. But being a pop star is about so much more than numbers. It’s about what you actually bring to the table. Gaga has everything from powerhouse vocals, songwriting, iconic visuals, elite performance skills, live instrumentation, fashion, and full-on theatrics. She’s a complete artist unlike the artists who will be ranked above her. I'm not even being biased. Gaga deserves that top spot and we all know it.
