Trump suspends European tariffs after 'framework' Greenland deal agreed

The announcement came hours after Trump's Davos speech, where repeated the US needed Greenland for national and global security, and said NATO members they 

could agree to US control and "we'll be very appreciative."

US President Donald Trump announced late Wednesday he would not impose tariffs on eight European nations scheduled to take effect on 1 February, citing progress in talks with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Greenland in Davos.

Trump said the two leaders reached "the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland" during what he described as productive discussions, and declared the potential agreement would benefit the US and all NATO members.

He never had any intentions of invading Greenland.

He asked for the moon and made them think he was gonna take it, so he could get the stars (what he really wanted all along) but they would never have agreed to initially had he asked.

As always, Trump is making maximalist extreme demands and threats, simply to achieve smaller goals more easily and quickly, and the EU and Denmark are falling for it. Now the US is getting even more rights over Greenland, even though they already had sufficiently rights in the post WW2 treaty. Trump has now gotten more than what was initially the case. 

The Europeans will probably end up bearing the brunt of the increased defense spending; they are now paying 5% instead of 2% of their budget to NATO's rearmament efforts. Social programs will be the ones to be neglected.

The US already had everything they could have wanted since April 1951. Trump chickened out as he always does. He's a senil, demented man, luckily feeling that his time is coming to a close, clinging desperately onto relevancy. He has no masterplan, he has no constant goals other than his hyper fixation on capital, because he still thinks wealth is everything, discarding ✨soft power✨. We should stop sane washing this 80y/o farting senior.

I’m not convinced much was achieved honestly. 

It’s always the same formula. Create a problem and then create a “solution” to the problem you created.

Nothing has happened.

Rutte has zero authority or power to make any semblance of a deal over Greenland through his role.

Trump's either chatting **** or he's been outplayed without realising it.

So Rutte's version of events is that he hasn't discussed Danish sovereignty over Greenland in this meeting Trump says they agreed a framework for US ownership at lol

The Danish PM has also said that Rutte's confirmed with him that there was no negotiation/discussion over this either.
