My take now (after yesterday) is that we’re clearly moving toward LG8 next — whether that’s this year, next year, or 2028. If you look back at the Chromatica Ball Tour, the aesthetic didn’t really match the album itself; it was far more industrial and brutalist, much closer to MAYHEM (the record) in spirit than Chromatica.

The MAYHEM Ball Tour, on the other hand, was much more aligned with the record — but darker, more cohesive — and it was already heavily leaning toward what she delivered last night. To me, last night is a very clear indication of where we’re headed next.

And honestly? I am SO here for it. DarkGa is finally coming. 🖤✨

LG8. Mayhem already gave us 17 tracks and I’m happy with not having deluxe. It already feels like deluxe anyways.

Honestly, I don't see her touring again without a break so I'd rather we got an expanded Mayhem/Total Mayhem spin off etc over a new album era. 
Extend the sound of the Mayhem era a bit longer, maybe do one or two tv slots over the summer to promo a single from it. Give us more of the darker tracks she pulled back from.

Judging some posts, it seems like some of you are expecting her to create a new music genre ala PC Music  Sticking to "retro" sounds ain't necessarily bad if done correctly and she nailed that on MAYHEM.

What I aim for next? I've said it before but I wouldn't mind if she releases LG8 next in the same musical nerve as MAYHEM. Her best album, her best vocals, her best involvement, her best BEST. But, if she decided to change directions (which I personally doubt; I guess she'll want to try different things but I'm sure she's aware she's at her finest), going all the way down to explore what possibilities a track like Killah can bring - absolutely retro Bowie vibes but mixed with hard hitting arrangements. Like. Oh my god.

Also! I don't picture her releasing an all industrial rock album, but what if she took inspiration from the type of music Nine Inch Nails does? We know she loves them and they do a perfect mix for rock lovers - pop fans

Total Mayhem with another 8 or so tracks in the vein of Disease, Abracadabra, Perfect Celebrity, Garden Of Eden is my DREAM

But I'm literally expecting nothing other than a 5 year pregnancy hiatus with either a Broadway or Opera stint somewhere in there and maybe another Vegas residency and movie or two if we're lucky

Arguably ARTPOP is the only exception but BTW was probably the most unabashedly 80s. I mean, Hair is a Pat Benatar song. TEOG is Springsteen af. I will say there were certainly parts of BTW that dipped into other things like Bloody Mary tapping into trap as an emerging sound. But. I'd argue that there aren't really very many emerging new sounds right now anyway in popular music. It's obsessed with nostalgia and Gaga being in such a vaulted position isn't even connected to the up and coming scenes anyway (though some of those would be interesting to hear from her especially given that most of those sounds are not really big vocal driven)

Idc what the genre is, I just refuse to be here for another album that fell out of a sample folder like Chromatica or ARTPOP (which I, admittedly, love).

There’s actually a LOT of real instruments on both those albums; Aura has real guitars so does Venus, MANiCURE, MJH, Gypsy, Real strings on J&D, ARTPOP and Gypsy as well as some real real drums on MJH. Almost every song has a real piano or keys to some degree. Yes it’s heavy but there’s a lot of elements Gaga and her band played on the album in the credits for it.  Chromatica is the same there’s real piano on 1000 Doves, Rain on Me, real guitars all over it and real strings like she has had since BTW. 
 

Harlequin is her only album to be entirely “live” instrumental wise (although there are bits that are clearly loops and electronic) 

I think maybe you just don’t like EDM which is fine, but I can tell you EVERY Gaga album has real instruments on it, it’s one of her selling points for me tbh

It's the focus of the songs' production. Electronic sounds can supplement analog captures but they can't substitute them.

My main grief is with Chromatica tbh. ARTPOP is heavy with digital sounds but it's complex and thoughtful enough that it doesn't matter too much, it's just easily dated rather than becoming classic or vintage like Cheek to Cheek, Joanne, Love For Sale, Harlequin, or Mayhem have/will.

Chromatica has the sin of mostly falling out of a program AND being so flat and boring that it's not even worth a spin

Total Mayhem. Though it certainly doesn't need to be in the form of TFM where the argument of "is this or isn't this an album?" rages on (and still does). I don't like when it's not clear if something's an album or EP and treads a fine line, though the rules for those things have been thoroughly torn up by now thanks to the likes of xxxTentacion with 20 minute albums. I'd like it straddle re-release and album. And if she releases this, she definitely has the incentive to extend the tour and make it even bigger and more profitable. I really don't think she needs to make a whole new album so soon. Girl needs to finally get married. And take a break.
