Batwings 12,909
I was such a huge Lana fan when she first started, and Ultraviolence is still one of my absolute favorite albums. However, she's bored me so much recently, and every album she's released since NFR! has sounded the same. My interest in her is waning, and stuff like this doesn't help.
Rhiannon 1,594
Lately, everytime I see Lana, I can’t help but feel sad and angry at this situation. I know it makes me sound psychotic because I obviously don’t know her but I felt so close to her music and could see a part of my own self in her. Her art meant so much to me but now she feels so foreign to me. I believed in the satirical and critical nature of her early work but it feels like she’s slowly becoming a part of it. Part of me is still in disbelief that she’s friends with the Kardashians and has a maga husband (and other things). I think it must’ve been a year or two since I decided to stop streaming her music because I don’t want to support her anymore. I still have all her CDs and Vinyls and I told myself that I would listen to her music using my physical collection but I can’t even bring myself to play her music that way. Sorry for my annoying rambling. I just wanted to express my feelings and leave them somewhere. R. 1 2

Psychotic would be doing what some fans do and make TikToks of yourself screaming and burning all your merch and records and talking directly TO her as if she's watching you do it It's hard when an artist you felt a connection to changes in ways that you no longer connect with or want to support. Music MEANS a lot to people. The messages, the words, the feelings, the way certain music carries you through stages of your life and bookmarks certain chapters or moments If Gaga ever did something I really couldn't support I'd feel the same. I went through a small period during her Haus Labs, Nurtec, advertisements, captalist era where I turned away from her and felt so sad I didn't want to listen to her music. I went through something similar with Grimes a couple years ago and made the very hard decision to delete all her music from my playlists and no longer stream her music. I miss it tbh, but it's also kinda tainted now I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I miss it tbh, but it's also kinda tainted now Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me (and everybody else on this forum) ! It helps me to know I’m not the only one dealing with such feelings and dilemmas (even though I was alredy aware of that). It’s comforting to be reminded that I’m not alone You’re right, I don’t sound THAT psychotic when I read what you describe about people filming themselves screaming and burning merch… You’ve described it so well ! Indeed, the words and melodies become a part of your own story, the meanings and feelings are so deeply engrained in your mind that when a disconnect happens between the artist and you, it feels like you have to mourn what you once held so high… There was comfort and a sense of understanding I felt when I used to listen to her that is simply not there anymore. It might sound a bit dramatic to some people who are able to separate the art and the artist but I simply can’t do that and I’m really happy you were there to remind me that I’m not alone ! Thank you so much I totally get what you felt about Gaga during that time and about Grimes and the decision you ultimately had to make. It can be very hard but I think it’s important ! It's very apparent that we connect through music when we consider music theory and the effects different sounds etc have on our bodies physically. It explains why people love music they don't understand lyrics to (people who don't speak Korean but like kpop for example). There's nothing psychotic about that. Remember that you're on a website named after one particular artist.
