It's more provocative to say that

Eh, I think it borderline trivializes it because it sounds like she’s framing it that way just to try to be edgy when if it were framed as bodily autonomy, it’d at least be addressing the core issue.

sour candy MV soon

Meanwhile Miss Swift continues hanging out and taking pictures with MAGA friends while making cringe diss tracks about someone who said they felt insecure about her.

I guess YNTCD was really just performative activism. Embarrassing (coming from a Swiftie!)

In normal political times, I'd fully agree.

In the current era, performativity is still taking a clear stance against fascism. Because its no longer just a "gay marriage is cute" thing, its a "lets not kill civilians" thing.

But that’s part of the reason why I think stacking the issues is kind of working *against* that. Make a clear statement about the tragedy in MN + the abuses of ICE more broadly and don’t dilute the conversation by trying to making it about sloppily establishing your entire political identity.

I just don’t think this type of messaging is particularly effective and that’s part of the reason why I think it skews performative because it feels more like either just emotional vomit, branding, or a way of signaling to her fans where she stands politically, which is fine, but I think is something that falls on the ears of most as obnoxious white noise. It just reminds me of 2018 “be gay! do crime!” Tumblr nonsense that basically speaks to no one other than online leftists.

I feel like she's just angry about her partner and exhausted by the present times, so this post was born of mercurial outrage—just a reaction to the absurdities of society where she had to let it all out at once like a sneeze.

She's not trying to be an activist here, she's just someone who's tired of the bullsh*t.

It's refreshing to see someone just explicitly say I love X than a whole social media essay on injustice, it can be bolder and uncomfortable to whoever follower that disagrees. We act too diplomatic for these people too often.

It's not my style of ranting but sometimes we need to give it straight like this :icant:
