She has ALBUMS of hits I'd put on before it lol There was a period in time (2012) when suddenly every Madge fan acted like it was the holy grail of her back catalogue. When lbr its not even top 10 in her 80s catalogue. I feel like no one talked about it that much compared to other tracks until the Born This Way drama The gays know how to party
MACATL 1,806 Posted yesterday at 04:29 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:29 PM I have to be honest - Express Yourself - THE VERSION FROM THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION ALBUM - is one of my favorite pop songs of all time, and definitely my favorite Madonna song. It really just scratches every itch for me. I do love BTW, but I can sometimes find its production a little cheap and grating (reductive???). Vocals are ON POINT though.

But EY is one of those instant mood changers for me.
MOT 3,339 Posted yesterday at 04:51 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:51 PM One of em is sung by a decent singer, the other is sung by one of the best singers in the history of rock n roll. I'll go with that second one.

It’s about advocating for your worth in a relationship. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
elegidadedios 2,630
Drama from 14 years ago aside, it's actually hard for me to pick one over the other. While Born This Way is a signature, fierce, must song on Gaga's discography explicitly about the LGBT community, Express Yourself ain't even in Madonna's top 10 must tracks (imo). Great song tho, just as her discography as a whole (til MDNA). Its meaning attached to it was even transformed by gay fans to feel empowered, and I think in a way its impact on her catalogue was pushed from 2011 til nowadays, as before that most people claimed other songs before reaching to that one. I guess what I'm trying to say is: they ain't comparable at all, just slightly the melody of *that* verse
