Anderson123 40,184
I can’t stand Diamond Heart. The way she drags her voice and the screams makes me just want to skip it. It’s a good album but had to force myself to like it because it’s Gaga. I listened to A Star Is Born soundtrack more than Joanne. I think she was trying to make this album “personal” and “relatable” and feels like she’s trying too hard that almost makes me look at it as a parody of what a Gaga stripped down album would be like. Harlequin feels more intimate and real than Joanne. Happy Mistake > Joanne (Album) I can understand when fans say Chromatica feels “empty” but Joanne is just a bit pretentious. Bless Gaga because I do love her and her work and this is an album she needed to make. Hopefully she works with Mark Ronson again some day because I know they can make an even better record. uglysexy 189
I like the album and most songs are fine. But imo her marketing it as an album that's deeply personal and tying it to her family is what ruins it, because it just isn't what it pretends to be. Country and americana aren't THAT personal to her, afaik neither her nor her family have country roots so what's with her going yeehaw, changing her accent and having all those country-inspired lyrics and imagery? Idk. As others have said, Cheek to Cheek, Chromatica and Harlequin feel more personal than anything on Joanne. She should have just said she wanted to explore other genres to break out of her dark crazy image and that's it.
zevthepaparazzo 1,323
the John Wayne – Sinner’s Prayer run + Angel Down is immaculate the other songs are good I just don’t listen to them that much perfect illusion is super cool the album is overhated but I’m kinda biased cuz I started scanning her during the pre-lg5 dark era her voice is kind weird, ik it’s supposed to be unfiltered and unprocessed but girl… Edited January 10 by zevthepaparazzo @NUTELLA loves me
SevenWonder 4,527
Grigio Girls is a fantastic song. In fact, if Phoebe Bridgers or Big Thief sang it, it would be an indie radio hit. I will die on this hill.

I would take an album entirely of JADs any day. Also I understand why PI was the lead single, but I honestly think Diamond Heart could’ve been a great lead single, as it establishes the sound, tone, and message of the record better than PI. Our minds First point especially, we should start campaigning for her to do an album like this (and we'll be the only ones listening to it but ) The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!
DrKindnessKunt2005 6,295
As someone who joined and left a cult in 2016, Perfect Illusion was so relatable to me at the time. It was the prefect lead single. Grigio Girls was in my Top 5 in 2016. It’s an underrated song. An A-YO visualizer (AKA the apple commercial footage) would have been a simple, but cute music video. Joanne is a pop album with several genre influences, it’s not pure country.

llemesm 1,774
Million Reason is one of Gaga worst songs, the lyrics and the message is incredibly toxic. You admit there are a million reasons to leave, yet you stay for a good one. Girl. 1 2
NemoMyName 1,401
It was a necessary step to make gaga more mainstream and get a wider audience with A Star is **** OST. It was a sacrifice. Edited January 11 by NemoMyName

Girl. it's not toxic, it's real to realise the people around you, be it friends, partners or family, are giving you every reason to say goodbye but you just want one good reason to stay is REAL. it's incredibly hard to say goodbye to something you love(d) so you're desperately finding a reason to stay which is how people get stuck in abusive cycles she's a victim herself of abusive relationships so she's talking from experience mother, what must i do?
TheARTPOPball 970
I love the album and it’s a favorite of mine idc and I’m not sorry Come to Mama is one of my favorite songs in her discography I would have loved the album to have been longer because this sound was such an anomaly for Gaga, I don’t think we will be hearing it again. it wouldn’t bother me at all if we got another similar record. I wish the record was a bit more country tinged than it was. Would have loved to hear her duet with Willie Nelson, or Dolly, and had a few tracks with that classical type country vibe with orchestral arrangements (like patsy cline, or what Lana Del Rey did with bluebird). And would have loved a bit of a deeper dive into the Americana vibes of the record (diamond heart). this is one of my favorite Gaga eras for fashion, and non marketing visuals, I mean she looked so clean and beautiful, especially the outfit she wore to good morning America. The photoshoots were all beautiful. Third to born this way, followed by ARTPOP. it might not have been the album most of the fanbase wanted, but I needed it, and if Joanne has only one fan out there, it’s me.
