Ziggy 12,541
Oh sister wants to start fights. LoveGame. Yeah it's for that one lyric hook and the production chords to start. Doesn't matter. It's just so instant. It's close bc GoE is great, too, but if im being honest?? I don't like when the lyrics get biblical but I've learned to when I think of it in a vintage schlock pop boney m kind of way. but all the same, i never had to warm up to any part of lovegame. beast of a single

I think part of it is that, as time goes on, Gaga doing the y2k pop thing has become one of my least favorite elements of her sound and, while GOE does play with that, it plays with it as weird funky y2k pop (à la Britney’s Do Somethin’) meets grimey 90s techno with a splash of 80s new wave + synthpop, which I just think is a bit more interesting than what LG has going on. That being said, I think you said this is a previous thread and I’m reiterating it because I agree: a lot of Gaga’s early stuff is so ingrained in me that it’s hard for me to judge it clearly (perhaps on some level because I may either put it on a pedestal or take it for granted, depending) so that’s prob a bit of what’s going on here lol Edited January 10 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Let the girls wake up to the holy word that is, "let's have some fun this beat is sick" Here's the thing...nothing you say I disagree with like basically same assessment of the songs except that I weirdly really love when Gaga had more of that mid 2000s urban and RnB sound to her music. EarlyGa said, hood fish I think as those sounds become more rare in her discography I appreciate them more which is why GoE is even a standout to me anyway. I think in my mind if i banish my personal self from it, i can objectively say that GoE is actually even better for all the reasons you said (I also like the little trick of the production switching between the synths and electric guitars for the post-chorus riff; keeps it consistent but dynamic, too). But I can't escape that Lovegame's hook and the "HUH"s are just so good for me that it carries the song without anything else necessary. But is GoE more interesting ultimately? Well yes! It's kinda like, to me, when she would do live versions of lovegame that beefed it up. That's what GoE gives.

LoveGame live rips (I think the electric guitars and live drumming just bring it to a whole new place) and I agree that GOE has a similar feel to LG live. I remember hearing the GOE demo leak and being like “again? A-****ing-gain?” and then the final version dropped and I was living. I think like you said, the fact that it’s rarer in her discog now does give it some more novelty and, tbh, if she’s gonna make it sound as fresh as it does on GOE, I’m here for her incorporating more of that sound in the future. Bronco 15,791
Garden of Eden still hasn't clicked with me. It's firmly in that "fan fave I just don't understand the hype" territory for me.
