This means that generics as of this week will be allowed to be manufactured by other companies which will provide more cost effective alternatives Canadas shorter drug patents help prices lower but has in the past been a source of tension between USA & Canada (and the EU) as the US claims its subsidizing lower prices in other Countries by having its consumers pay the research costs longer The EU & Canada claim the patent rules apply to their own domestic companies also not just American ones and is therefore not unfair trade. Additionally they claim that patents that last that long arent truly required to encourage innovation and are therefore not taking advantage of US innovation and that the US just keeps the patents unnecessairily long by its own choice. Tho im in the US rn and I can see they have it even worse. I’m not advocating for a drug but I had amazing results since exercising isn’t an option as sweat for me triggers my eczema to a point I would bleed through my shirt. This drug has allowed me to control my weight gained from a mental issue few years back. Only problem is it’s not the cheapest way.
