Lemon Blood

I think objectively I prefer the special edition cover, but the bike cover makes me feel nostalgic because it was the first Gaga album cover I ever saw. And there’s something about the metal on the bike that I find really satisfying so I give it my vote

the face one, also i think this would be 100% perfect for cover from entire photoshoots (imo)

It really is crazy that out of the thousands of pictures taken during this shoot, they ended up choosing for the album cover what anyone else in their right mind would have left on the cutting room floor. Just a spur-of-the-moment, unframed, almost accidental shot of her getting back up from posing on the floor.

And yet, her facial expression totally encapsulates the raw energy, passion and craziness of the album. It's not posed, it's taken halfway through a movement, which makes it so dynamic and exciting. That's one hell of a face expression, and I totally get why they disregarded the numerous technical flaws of the shot and got out of their way in postproduction to make it work.

All of this is why I wish they would have kept the original photo, ofc with some sort of edition but it captures the essence of the record

I never really disliked the motorbike version, I think it made sense at the time but looking at it now, it feels kinda random and lacking an overall context because BTW is more known for dark pop bops instead of the old classic rock and roll vibes she was giving then

Or this one, I think it was born to be an iconic album cover  612LglMzcbL._UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg

I got the deluxe when this came out. I did think it was nicer. I liked what they did for the typography. I actually like the bike idea, especially retrospectively knowing she continued with that through in the tour, but that font is atrocious and back when I bought records, I would always get the deluxe from artists I followed. Why would I buy something with less songs?

Does anyone remember the multicoloured version of the cover they did by unveiling it piece by piece? Can't remember exactly but I adored the colours

Wasn’t that the reveal for the ARTPOP cover?

That too, but BTW had something similar. Not the main cover reveal, a colourised version of it for some version which was released in pieces

In what way does it lack context? I feel like, if anything, Gaga is appreciated for her camp sensibility now more than she was then. I also think that, regardless of the “darkness” of anything on BTW, it’s all both undoubtedly hamfisted, camp, and also heavily influenced by the over-the-top rock roots she was pulling from (Meatload, Judas Priest etc),
