TEOG is so special. When it came out, I was on a two hour drive and listened to it on repeat the whole way. BUT! Vanish Into You is, I think, one of the most special songs I'll ever know. I love it (I love both). Vanish wins for me, there's so much right about it.

Studio Version-wise, it's The Edge of Glory for me. Never really liked her piano renditions of it. 

Even today, 14 years later, that build up to the the chorus and release, gives me such a euphoric rush, that no other song of hers does. Maybe Marry The Night.

But nostalgia also plays a big role for me, as Born This Way was the first era that I experienced as an actual fan, following her every step, and thus it will always hold a special place in my heart. 

 

Vanish Into You is an amazing song as well though, and it not being made a single is a crime

I am not going to let this debate get as far as my head because then I might start rationalizing and analyzing and stuff and come up with the wrong answer. Vanish is a great song imo. I love the album track and I am in awe of the Colbert performance, but TEOG has done so much and given so much that it owns a corner of my heart and the debate stops there.

Vanish is vanquished. Glory to the Edge.

I love love LOVE VIY, but TEOG is just IT for me.

The timeless lyrics, the narrative that’s told, the personal connection to her grandfather, the Clarence Clemons sax solo being a full circle moment from his work with Springsteen and working on this very Springsteen-inspired track about death before his own death…the beautiful yet simple video…yeah…
