I love her, but I get people who don’t.

Imo Perverts is definitely not the “go-to” album of her if u want to get to know her music, it’s more of a side-hustle of her.

since she is the kind of artists who make her art by telling a story, I personally believe part of listening to her is get to know the story behind the character”Ethel Cain”, I see it more of an immersive listening, it’s much more interesting to listen to her music with a context (and this is probably not for everyone)

“Preacher’s daughter” is telling the story of the character Ethel Cain (mostly after high school but with some songs also talking about past events in her life), while “Willoughby Tucker, I’ll always love you” is more of a prologue for first album but it’s centered heavily around her love interest Willoughby Tucker.

Perverts is not part of Ethel’s story, but again more of a experimental side project

I think she's phenomenal, but a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy difficult listen so I don't listen to her often. But when I am in the mood, it's the kind of music that really tickles the special places in the brain with how intricate the production and writting is.

I can't get into some of her projects but I still think she's among the best somewhat "mainstream" artists we have working right now. We need more creative people like her in the spotlight.

Yeah this is my thought entirely.

Incredibly talented artist, but not someone I enjoy.

I know she like nope

Someone infamous for being a spectacular judge of character and demonstrating sound decision-making skills.

I still remember the first time I heard Preacher's Daughter. It was after Bosco was gushing about how amazing Hayden's voice is on a clip of American Teenager on Twitter. I promptly got the album a few minutes later and spent the next 3ish hours repeatedly listening to it.

It reminded me so much of my childhood in a way that I basically hadn't experienced since I was a child. Granted, not quite to the extremes that Ethel experiences... but it was trippy af nonetheless. I listened to it once or twice a day for 6 months after that.

So yeah, I kinda like her music.

She is amazing, I found out about her through a guy's tinder profile back in 2023. I have been listening to her a lot ever since. I have been listening to her album Preacher's Daughter on repeat and then I gave Inbred and Golden Age a try and jesus ****ing Christ are they amazing. I really love Willoughby Tucker as well.

I like perverts but this was clearly a passion project and I am only into Amber Wave, really.

I need to listen to more of her stuff, I'm only really familiar with 'American Teenager', which I love btw!

listened to that american whatever song was getting hyped up, boring af, did not listened again, the video was also meh, tho i randomly watched one video of her speaking about gay **** on her yt channel, and another one about her spiritual beliefs and death, she seemed cool, wasn't super invested either to watch more.

I do like a lot of the alternative, americana sound she creates but her lyrics can be a bit obscure especially if you don't have reference for her fictional world-building, they go on way too long and her Perverts album in particular just seemed to be her attempts at being weird and different for the sake of it. Her music is escapism to an imagined world but it's hardly relatable. Not that music has to be relatable but hers reaches a level of obscurity to where you can only care so much about the subject matter and when her songs run super long, it's easy to lose track of what they're about.
