The charts are supposed to reflect how many times a song has been listened to to gauge popularity. At this point it’s just doestnt mean anything. Why not just cancel charts, it only showcases how horrible the taste of the population is  every so often I go listen to some top charting songs and it makes me worried that either I have horrible taste or the covid aftereffects affect mental taste as well

This. You literally cannot escape these songs so it shouldn't impact charting at all (that makes it equal for everyone).
