They stink, they don’t have to pee to make your house stink, just themselves lol

Honestly, both are great pets (i've had both).

It just really depends on what your lifestyle is like - dogs are way more intensive pets in my view, cats can be more independent.

I'd love another dog, but it'll be awhile before my life is suitable to a dog and it'd be totally unfair to get a dog until I could commit to them properly.

There's a lot of projecting going on here :ladyhaha:

Dogs are typically very outward in their need to be around people, to get pets, to play, etc. I dunno of very many dogs that dont get hyped af just because their owners came home. I know plenty who get in trouble because they bark and bounce and some even pee from the excitement. Ive met dogs that force themselves on you, stare at you, whine, etc for human contact and acknowledgement.

Im glad that you have a dog and are enjoying it.

My point was - I don't see the majority of cats acting that way and personally, I don't like it when something is all up on me and overexcited just because I exist - its exhausting.

Again, glad your dog isnt like that. The last corgi I met was a brat who would howl if she didn't get her way and wanted to be praised for everything even if they were disobedient.

I mean, it’s definitely not projection, given that that was essentially the argument you made: “Cats are a lesson in consent,” implies that people who aren’t cat people don’t understand/respect consent and dogs being “people pleasers,” by contrast, implies that people who are dog people not only don’t understand consent, but that dog people are also looking for an emotionally dependent/compliant pet (which, again, caries the implied moral judgement of people who like dogs as being emotionally toxic when framed as being opposed to a consenting dynamic). It’s fine if that’s not what you *meant*, but it’s absolutely what that argument implies.

That being said, like I said, I respect your preference, but I just thought couching it in pseudo-moral/pop psychological terms was kind of ridiculous lmao

I like all companion animals, but the modern day, north american dog owner has really tainted my enjoyment of dogs :bradley:

Tbh if I ever hear someone refer to themselves as a "pet parent" I start to hear the kill bill sirens in my head, regardless of animal :volantis:

Honestly both but i only have cats. You can do more stuff with dogs, but cats are easier to care for and I have a small apartment, live alone, and have a full time job so they are better suited to my lifestyle.

Also my cats (2) are hilarious and my male is in love with me-a full on velcro cat
