Wasn’t it reported early/mid last year that they’d worked together? Before he even posted the original Instagram image.

It was around the time it was rumoured she’d worked with Gesaffelstein on LG7. Apparently she also worked with Will.I.Am too lol. Probably on the cutting room floor if true.

Edit: I remember when the Garden of Eden snippets started leaking, I was like “omg I could be your girlfriend for The Weeknd”

Great. Another collab to further prove that the GP does not like solo Gaga tracks.

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

The Collabga narrative is so funny because basically all of her contemporaries have way more collabs than she does :air:

But her contemporaries also have recent solo hits (not counting Katy Perry of course)

Gaga is the only female artist I ever see people say “she needed (insert other singers name) to get this hit”

but whenever someone else does a collab, like Ariana or The Weeknd for example, I never see those kind of comments :(

and sadly I do think it really is because the second half of Gaga’s career so far really have been lacking in big successful solo songs. Abra was so important because it was the first time in a long time it seemed like the GP noticed one of her solo singles.  Cause they didn’t notice disease, stupid love,  perfect illusion, or GUY :(

They just hate that their faves collabs often draw no attention. When Gaga collabs with another big profile artist it’s an event because that was lowkey rare on a mainstream scale from like 2011-2019

Ariana and The Weeknd are not contemporaries as neither had a mainstream breakout prior to the streaming age which makes these comparisons unfair. The Weeknds last two hits have been collabs and his album came and went then got snubbed for awards recognition so who really needs who here?  We have come so far from the days when she was regarded as streaming poison and Abracadabra is definitely a very good sign because it shows there is still a massive market out there for her type of pop outside the US. Longevity is far more important than high debuts that freefall and Gaga is winning on that front. Make no mistake, Abracadabra is a global smash that ended up being one of the most streamed and acclaimed female solo songs of the year and honestly, we as a fanbase need to move on from obsessing over charts anyway. Obviously it's fine to want her to do well but she's nearly forty years old and it shouldn't be a priority for living legends.
