I was experiencing the whole “coming of age” phenomenon during its release (like many of us) and am way too biased to ever see any other reality where BTW isn’t the best. The lyricism, over the top production, the way the album has a similar sound throughout yet also has so much distinction between the tracks…I fear it will never be topped. The era was also PEAK. Costumes, performances, MVs…never a dull moment. It was like treading water in the midst of a tsunami, except the water is Gaga and I’d happily drown in it.
