Mayhem was all about live instrumentation and lots of gritty production. If Total Mayhem is actually real, It would be cool if it leans into some more electronic elements in the mold of Born This Way. I just hope all the success and acclaim she's experienced lately will encourage her to get even more crazy for whatever comes next. Some people have been saying she will take a long break after the tour but I don't see that happening since she seems to be so creatively inspired right now.

My trinity is

ARTPOP, Joanne, Born this Way

Born this way is maximalist Gaga and just such a grand project with music that I cannot get from any other artist. The production is so good and even tho I don’t listen to it much anymore, it will always be a personal favorite

ARTPOP for me is Gaga at her most rebellious, which is a trait of hers I love and delivered one of my most favorite albums of all time - it’s so all over the place and loud, but also leaves me with a light feeling afterwords, and inspired.

Joanne was a reminder to me that Gaga is still just a human as the rest of us who has a family, and an entire life beyond all of her glamour. At her core, she’s just a talented person. And like us, she’s a mixed bag. Her theatrical and avant garde vibe records are essential , but she is just as effective without them.

my honorable mention is the fame, because it’s just quite literally a perfect pop record. One of the strongest debuts of all time and fun summer vibes.

As it is, in studio format, without any changes and additions, in the sense that you can stick the cd in the player and enjoy the album; definitely Born this way, 0 skips, stellar vocals, amazing production and glorious lyrics with great pacing.

Mayhem has a lot of much better songs, lyrics and production elements.. but the tracklist is a bit eh, and songs like Blade of grass, The beast and How bad do you want me needed either diff tracklist positions or diff profuctions, cause they kinda drag the second half of the album down.

ARTPOP has a similar issue, where the first half is dragged down with the worse Aura vocals and I won't rather comment on yhe features for J&D + DWYW. Otherwise I'd say it's almost my favr cause its her most insane album.

From all objective points like production, writing etc it has to be Mayhem that is her best album.

But throwing in the subjective - nothing will ever top Born This Way for me. It will always be my favourite

I feel this, comparing an EP to her full fleshed out bodies of work never worked for me. TFM is mostly Bad Romance and insane visual direction, I feel like some tracks still sound very TF.

If I had to compare eras it would be high, when it comes to albums - not really.

my rank is:

Born This Way

Mayhem

The Fame

ARTPOP

The Fame Monster

Joanne

Chromatica

I mean, neither Gaga nor the Recording Academy view TFM as an EP and, imo, the aesthetic direction is absolutely distinct enough to be judged on its own. Telephone is the only song that could potentially fit on TF from TFM (and even at that, the synth textures are pretty different from the songs on TF).

My top three are Mayhem, Born This Way and Joanne. Full rank probably:

Mayhem > Born This Way > Joanne > Chromatica > ARTPOP > The Fame Monster > The Fame

The Fame Monster would be higher if I didn’t dislike Telephone so much and if I wasn’t completely indifferent to Teeth. Since it’s so much shorter than her other albums.
