The Fame Monster

I’ve always been a Born This Way girl, despite my username here. :ladyhaha:

But listen up — you know what? This year, I’ve got to give this one to the beautiful and amazing MAYHEM.

For me, MAYHEM wasn’t an instant hit when it was released, but over time I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it — how good it is, how insane the production, the vocals, the lyrics, everything is.

It’s an absolute masterpiece, and it would be a HUGE M-I-S-T-A-K-E if it doesn’t win Album of the Year. Huge. We’re talking about a month-long riot of DISASTER.

So now, I’m a MAYHEM girl. :vegas:

The Fame Monster below Joanne is... definitely a choice :reductive:

It was really good back then but she's honestly evolved since she released it into much more interesting projects as a whole... And I'm not talking about the cunty performances and over the top promo. I barely listen to both, but when I play Joanne I love to do it from beginning to end + Just Another Day is objectively a highlight in her career. On the other hand, TFM... is just what people outside the fandom think Gaga is

The Fame (Monster) has her biggest GAGA hits, but BTW as a whole is her best album. Everything just clicks.

It’s definitely my choice! I love Joanne more than TFM! No shame here!

Keep judging!

That’s fair. I do enjoy being judged by Joanne’s haters (in general) though for loving it so much

Mayhem was a step in the right direction...like a more fleshed out TFM 2.0

However, the overall cohesiveness or lack thereof makes the listening experience a but jarring and subconsciously frustrates the listener. The first 1/3 of the album is wonderful and then Vanish Into You blares in and we dont return to dark pop ever again...but a 2/3 album that just sounds like a long tribute album with songs that sound inspired by the artist being honored (Prince, Bowie, Miley, Taylor, MJ, etc)

BTW was and still is a breath of fresh air with it's extremely layered, textured, experimental, and complex productions and a more cohesive and well balanced album from beginning to end with little to no major dip in quality songs. :queenga:

It is an album 15 years old almost and still referenced to this day and has had such a positive impact for LGBT rights WW and saved so many lives and made so many kids feel confident at school and like bad kids in real life. A masterpiece...magnum opus still. :traumatica:

Gaga could have done that with Mayhem had it just commited to the sound. I think had she gone with her original plan to make it all grunge pop it would have surpassed BTW. But Michael said no...:triggered:

How many times does the “Michael stopped her from doing electro grunge” narrative need to be re-litigated before it dies? lmao. That is just not what happened.

BTW, MAYHEM, and TFM are the holy trinity. FWIW, TFM will always have a special place in my heart and has some incredibly iconic songs, but I feel like both BTW and MAYHEM are both more indelibly and quintessentially Gaga from a stylistic perspective (more bombastic, theatrical, sonically versatile, emotionally dynamic), which will always resonate with me a bit more than TFM’s approach.

Girl you know Michael forced her to start over and scrap her industrial rock demos because he’s her handler /s
