What went wrong with The Dead Dance?

The tim Burton music video was a dream for many Gaga stans. The fact it was good but without anything groundbreaking disapointed some of them. Mainly after abracadabra did so good creatively putting the bar high. 

Also it's nice but not as cool as most mayhem tracks so we surely (over)expected some new Lovedrug/ garden of eden etc level track.

When we had other songs on Mayhem that were deserving of being a single, The Dead Dance needed to be that much better and it just wasn't.

Also, I think Jonas Akerlund would have turned out a MV for The Dead Dance. Whatever, though.

I loved the song at first listen, its fun, catchy and the video is also cute!

However as many said the chours is the weak link between the fantastic verses, and this mix fixes that;

Netflix wanted to push the show with another viral moment but they made it so obvious that it seemed extremely forced (from the dance scene to the song title) while the song (and even more the video) itself is just meh.

I think 1. gaga and tim burton lead to similar expectations of when the OG TEOG concept was leaked, obviously hearing tim burton and gaga are doing a video for a song called TDD it's easy to expect ed scissorhands or the nightmare before christmas

2. when it came out most LMS were dying for a plethora of other songs from the album to get the treatment that it got

3. part of it leaked, without fail LMs will hear part of a song and imagine the rest of it as the best song they could ever hear so when it doesn't quite live up to that it's a bit of a let down

4. (cant remember the timelines but did it not come out when people/we/us were still pissed about the travesty of getting tickets to the tour

If there wasn't an album full of superior songs that aren’t getting videos, it wouldn’t be as bad.

Everything that could’ve went wrong, went wrong.

the song was bad. The MV was worse.  The choreography was awful.  Then they FORCED it down our throats for almost two months.

Because honestly, the song they should have used for this moment was Disease. It would have actually probably performed better if it was tied to Wednesday promo. 
 

TDD just isn’t that good. It’s fine. But in terms of disco-adjacent tracks in Gaga’s catalogue… there are many better.
