I enjoy it. But I think the music video was deeply underwhelming and cheap, and the tik tok dance didn't catch because it just wasn't that good. I think the song could've stuck more if the video and dance were better.

I love the song, but I have to be in the mood for disco funk music.

The build up to the chorus gives a lot of anticipation which is not fully sustained once the chorus hits. If you expect disco funk, you’re good with the vibe of the song. If you expect Abra level chorus, it doesn’t hit that hard.

And also I agree the MV was a little too plain (moving dolls were cool btw) and the choreo, yes, it’s kind of a mess. From my understanding, it wasn’t Parris but the choreographer for Wednesday S2.

Also I really don’t get why they took parts of slightly twitched parts of choreo from other Gaga songs (the first move in the chorus looks like the move from the Abra choreo, the stab looks like the move in the new Judas choreo).

What went right: it's an absolute banger of a song. I love the broken doll aesthetic. The choreo is great.

What went wrong: the song probably lacks a bit of punch by not having a middle eight. The video doesn't tell a story and is just a bit uninteresting, and missed high hopes from a Burton collaboration. It was undermined by the disappointment at how brief and bland her Wednesday cameo was. It was released mid cycle and mid week to tie into the Netflix release and that lessened it's original chart impact (although I don't think GP really cares about charts these days).

I think a video with more of a story would have had more impact. I also think it would have been fun for the choreo to include a whole mix of dance styles (waltz, jitterbug, disco, tango, interpretive).

It reminds me of The Cure, a cute bop that will collect dust in her discography. It should've been a bigger hit with the amount of promo it received.

GoE, VIY or HBDUWM would've been a better single choice with a music video.

That being said: I think TDD video gets way too much ****. I would’ve loved if they had tied it back into the themes from Disease and Abra w/ Mistress vs. EtherealGa, but I also love the look in the vid and she turns in an excellent performance. Not groundbreaking, but still very good.

agreed. Gaga is one of the more sophisticated main pop girls-- but she is pop, and that sometimes brings people who have underdeveloped and/or immature taste.
