in any pov or metrics, selling a $136 grossing tour is objectively good, no matter how you spin it.

Good for someone who's not sold better at a time when it was harder to make large scale profits sure.

It's not mental gymnastics to compare tour grosses by the same artist when someone's trying to argue they're doing well.

Like even by comparable metrics with other same era singers who equally don't chart well but can still do very well as a live act she underperforms.
Across 34 arena only dates in the US, P!nk grossed $109 million. Katy managed $136 million across 91 arena dates globally.

Katy's life isn't over. She's not broke. But you brought tour gross into to try and argue with me saying Katy's long term career prospects are bleak. And the tour gross figures prove that - because she's been on a consistent downard trajectory in gross for 10 years. A downward trajectory that goes against the market trends of the last decade.

She sold her first tour in 6 years at a time when people were excited for a comeback.

If the $136 million gross is correct, then that underperforms her highest selling tour which was over a decade ago. The Prismatic world tour grossed $204.3million at the time, adjusted for inflation that's $270.62 million.
The Witness tour grossed $124.2 million, which adjusted for inflation is $160.2 million.

So her sales figures proves her sales are going in reverse and doing so at a time when live music tickets and overall tour gross reports are the highest they've ever been. She didn't even sell out the tour.

So no, my point stands. Her career has gone into reverse. She's selling less, she's charting less.

"She's selling less, she's charting less"

Well so is lady gaga compared to her peak, so what?

The reported gross estimates for TMB tour as of the end of the European leg was $168.9 million with 100% of tickets sold for all venues.

The box office figures for the promo shows is $56.6million.

So the Mayhem era has already hit $225million across 9 promotional shows (one of which was free attendance) and 87 tour dates.

So with multiple shows remaining she will absolutely beat the BTWB gross which when adjusted for inflation is $248million across 98 dates as of 2025.

Only the Monster Ball was bigger with $317.8million across 202 dates.

So no, Gaga isn't selling less. If she did 202 dates for The Mayhem Ball it would be her highest ever grossing tour.

Sure she's charting less than at her peak, that's the norm for women in pop music to chart less as they age.

The issue at hand is that Katy's numbers show consistent decline and have done for a decade.

Gaga by comparison, saw a major tanking of her numbers in the ARTPOP era but her sales across media and touring have actually trended upwards consistently since that era. Every tour since the ArtRave has grossed more than its predecessor, staying in line with the industry trend.

So that's why the discussion isn't about Gaga transitioning to legacy act status. Because Gaga has clear positive market support that has actively grown in the last decade.

Katy's numbers indicate an artist who's audience is increasingly condenscing down into a smaller core audience which is consistent with becoming a legacy artist. The issue for Katy, is that we've yet to seen the decline in her figures level out - but that's likely to be seen in the next era.

Smile is a pretty good album. 143 however.....

Honestly, yes. It lacks any depth or lyrical mastery, but it's mostly well produced and easy pop music.
