JFAD inspired Bruno to reach out to Gaga and finish DWAS

Okay so... was Die With A Smile originally intended or not intended for MAYHEM? Because Lady Gaga treated it as a standalone song all the way back in August 2024, but now we have Bruno saying he wanted it on an album?

It sounds like, if anything, he initially pitched it for JFAD or Harlequin, but was open to the idea of it being on MAYHEM.

I’m glad it all worked out like it did. Mayhem would sound perfect with DWAS as the closer even if that song wasn’t the absolute juggernaut it is. 

Those three ballads all compliment each other very well. 

So I’m glad DWAS became so successful if that’s what it took to get it as the album closer.

But immagine that this was a Batman Forever or the knight rider kinda success with this Song attached to It. I wonder how more successful would It be as a Song from a sountrack

I mean kiss from a rose lives way Beyond the movie. Probably far more successful and much more longevity. Here would be that case i Imagine.

Imagine a universe where Die With A Smile ends up in Harlequin, it sells like idk 4 million copies because of it and MAYHEM struggles to surpass it

First, DWAS literally started as a scrapped Bruno demo so right there, it started as his song. Not as something written for Joker, not something they collabed on for the Mayhem sessions. It was literally his reject.

Second, Gaga is clearly the feature on it. Second to sing, barely sings alone, sings less often, nobody would question it if it was officially "Bruno ft. Gaga".

Third, Gaga was like 30th on Spotify before being featured on Bruno's song which catapulted her up to the top 5 where he already was. So yeah, thank you, Bruno.

Fourth, this song is the biggest blight on Mayhem and I'll never let it go  literally only added to give the album an automatic streaming boost which is honestly pathetic and not what I expect from Lady freaking Gaga.

DWAS should have stayed in Bruno's recycle bin where it belongs  the only good its done is give the real Mayhem tracks a little bigger of a spotlight but even that came at the cost of some of the album's integrity.

I’m honestly tired of Little Monsters complaining that Gaga would never have another hit. 2013 to 2020 was hell, and once Gaga repeaks, her own fans clown on her because the song that got her there wasn't a Bad Romance. It is literally the most successful song this decade, let alone more successful than Blinding Lights and it has broken so many records.

 

Hating on DWAS is not cute, nor is it funny anymore. It got old a long time ago, let it go already.

I like DWAS. It is a good song. It does not belong on Mayhem. It is not even ON Mayhem. It is just tacked on at the end. She should have done a voiceover before it saying 'I am sorry about this but I have to do it'. I never listen to DWAS. Does that mean that I am lying when I say I like it ? I do not know. It is the same with Shallow. I never listen to it. But I do sometimes watch the video or the Oscars performance. I do listen to the Bruno/Gaga duet of California Dreamin. It is on one of my playlists. Now that IS a lie. I do not have playlists. I have cd's. I do not believe that Bruno just rang her out of the blue and she came over and they had reheated pasta. Maybe he did ring her, but it was not out of the blue. Wait a minute. There was no pasta. I am getting my stories mixed up. I suspect I am not the only one.

She literally repeaked in the middle of that "hell" with ASIB though? 

Being successful doesn't make it a good song nor does it negate the goofy way they threw it onto the album where it still makes up 60% of the album's streams NOR do I even care about chart success.

Besides, she had a hit this era: Abracadabra. And she didn't pull any embarrassing crap with it like she did with DWAS. Disease and The Dead Dance didn't do too bad either and they're both great songs.

An overly saccharin Bruno reject slapped onto a Gaga album for streams. Idk how y'all listen to it with a straight face tbh.

I'll hate what I want tbh  in a sea of work I adore, it's rare she lets me down when it comes to music and she did with this song.

My interpretation of that is DWAS was pulled from JFAD to save it as it was clear the movie would bomb. They added to Mayhem to give it a home. Interesting because haters were saying DWAS saved Mayhem but in fact Mayhem saved DWAS.
