The whole "forbidden queer love" dynamic is really powerful and takes me back to my early teens when I was in my small country home town where there were no out people in High School. I would lie to my parents every weekend and tell them I was spending the night with my friend for the weekend, when in reality I was driving nearly 2 hours away in my shitty 90's work truck with no AC to go see my first boyfriend at the time. Anyway, all this to say that this series is a very relatable queer story regardless of your personal experiences, I think a lot of people will connect with this love story. The fact that it's spread out over years makes it more believable and the emotions more raw, they both have important things going on in their lives but still are always thinking about each other.
