Disease WILL WIN its Grammy nom

Before anyone starts, this is me manifesting Disease's win at the Grammys, but hear me out!

Disease is currently nominated at the Grammys for Best Pop Solo Performance. It competes against Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild, Chappell Roan's The Subway, Justin Bieber's Daisies, and Lola Young's Messy. This is Gaga's and Justin's fourth nomination in the category, Sabrina's and Chappell's second and Lola's first. Gaga and Sabrina are the only former winners, with Sabrina being the latest winner.

Majority of people, including critics, betting websites and fans have Manchild as the clear winner for this year, however I strongly believe Disease has higher chances of winning. Most of these predictions are based on two key factors: Manchild is the bigger hit and is nominated for Record and Song of the Year, as well as Best Music Video, and it's actually the only song with nominations in other categories, with the only exception of Chappell Roan's The Subway being nominated for Song of the Year too.

However, make no mistake, Gaga submitted Abracadabra, the bigger song on Mayhem for both ROTY and SOTY, and got nominated in both. She also submitted it to Best Dance Pop Record and also got a nomination, and went with Disease for Best Pop Solo to increase her range and ALSO got a nomination, beating some very strong competition such as Billie Eilish's Wildflower (nominated for ROTY and SOTY), and Alex Warren's Ordinary (2025 biggest hit), Tate McRae's Sports Car (also big hit), Gracie Abrams' That's So True (idk some people were saying but I don't see it), among others.

That being said, Gaga has proven to be a very beloved candidate among Pop voters. She won for Joanne in 2019, beating Camila Cabello's Havana (2018's biggest hit), Ariana Grande's God is a woman (one of her most critically acclaimed songs), and Post Malone's Better Now (one of 2018's biggest hits too). Yes, people could probably argue that this was due to the incredible hype of A Star is Born, but then in 2021 she managed to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Rain on Me, defeating Taylor Swift/Bon Iver's Exile (from folklore, AOTY winner), and BTS' Dynamite (arguably the biggest hit in the category).

Gaga is currently the second artist with most wins in the Pop field, just behind her dear friend Tony Bennett, with whom she has two shared wins for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. You may argue that Disease wasn't a big hit, but it is part of Mayhem, the current favorite to win Album of the Year, and Disease happens to be the opening track and prepares you for Abracadabra, nominated for ROTY and SOTY. If that wasn't enough, Cirkut received a nomination for Producer of the Year, and one of the cited works was Disease. The only other nominated producer with a song in this category is Dijon for Justin Bieber's Daisies. Obviously, Disease has an incredible production value, and has, in my opinion, the best vocal performance alongside Chappell Roan's The Subway.

The other thing is, Sabrina's album Man's Best Friend did not live up to the expectations after Short n' Sweet, and she was criticized for repeating the formula of her previous album without bringing something new. This has happened before, and the Academy DID NOT like it. Recent examples are Olivia Rodrigo's Guts (6 nominations, no wins, right after winning Pop Solo and Pop Album), and Billie Eilish's Happier than Ever (7 nominations, no wins, right after winning Pop Album).

Sabrina being the current winner of the category also does not help her. Only two artists (Ed Sheeran and Adele) have won Pop Solo more than once, with Adele being the only one to have back-to-back wins. To win a Pop category on multiple occasions seems like a big deal, for instance, on Pop Vocal Album, in the 30 years the category has existed, only three artists have won more than once (Adele, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson). Gaga has already achieved her legend status, and her being this year winner for both Pop Solo and Pop Vocal Album sounds like the correct choice. It is also very uncommon to see an artist winning Pop Vocal Album, but not Pop Solo if they're nominated, in the very few cases this has happened, the winner for Pop Vocal Album ended up winning Album of the Year.

I don't mean to disrespect Sabrina's work whatsoever, but I do believe she will walk home with empty hands, just like it happened to Olivia and Billie. If she ends up winning something, it'll probably be Best Music Video. I feel Gaga has wins on lock for Pop Vocal Album, Pop Solo Performance and Dance Pop Recording.

I would rather Harlequin win so that can suggest Jazz and traditional Pop voters have her back on AOTY, so I’m willing to sacrifice Disease. 
 

To me Disease is the third most likely winner, after Mandchild and The Subway. Manchild has the commercial advantage but a somewhat lukewarm reception. The Subway has the critical reception but a lukewarm comercial success. And then there’s Disease, that only has the critical acclaim. 
 

With Daisies, while it was a hit and a great song, Justin has been vocal about not liking that the Grammys see him as a pop star. His previous comments against the pop field might turn voters off and this song has little cultural impact as it came to late in the year. 
 

With Messy, the Grammys are in no hurry to award Tik Tok trends. A fair amount was recognized in nominations, but wins are a different story. Besides, it was a moderate hit too early in the year so it’s lost all momentum, and in terms of heavy weight names, every other artist is bigger and more respectable than Lola Young. 
 

Disease will win if voters split between Mandchild and The Subway, which could happen for sure. But the only thing the song has going for it on its own merit, is that is a Lady Gaga song, during Lady Gaga’s year. It needs a bit more than that to win.

I don't see Chappell Roan winning tbh, I feel like her "attitude issues" will alienate the voters.
