Battle Royale didn't flesh out its Universe, Hunger Games did. And the story is so captivating too

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I feel like the only person alive that has read the Hunger Games books but hasn't seen any of the movies.

But also, anyone who includes Mel Gibson's freak fest cult gore film in a top-anything other than "top 20 movies that should be banned" is...well, a freak :ohwell:

Hunger Games is overrated.. only the 1st movie was good, rest total garbage.

But I slept during the first one because it was pretty boring.

I like Tarantino, I think global pandemic is good.

read the books!

I started Battle Royale without knowing what to expect, and 20min in I thought "wait, isn't this the plot of Hunger Games? But it came out before, right? So... Hunger Games was just a rip-off? Glad I never got into it :icant:"

I mean, he’s right, but this is also incredibly bold coming from the man who ripped off Lady Snowblood for Kill Bill lmao

More like The Bride Wore Black? I haven't seen any, but based on the plot only, it seems more like a rip-off of this one. But obviously it's got influences from multiple sources. Great artists steal and he's great :classy:

I saw Battle Royale years ago before I saw Hunger Games and I honestly think they are two completely different stories. I don't think the theme of being shipped off to an island to kill each other for the entertainment of the elite or some 'moral' purpose is a new idea, or an idea that can only be done once ever. It's a broad enough concept that both pieces of media can stand on their own. The worlds are so different and the use those worlds in different ways. Also did Squid Game not do something similar? And Divergent is basically Hunger Games but worse imo yet that was still a box office success (I think?)

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
