Either commit to it, and be unafraid of being perceived as gay, or don't cover it at all. The K-pop boy group TXT covered Taylor Swift's Love Story and kept the lyrics as if it were Juliet singing to Romeo, and it was so refreshing to hear male artists unafraid of using male pronouns in a cover. I don't think I'd feel so affronted by it if it were slightly more interesting sonically. The concept's there, especially with her stage name being Boyfriend (which I guess is why she changed it to boyfriend) but it's just a bit boring.
