I get that the situation in Nigeria is serious but the term "Christian persecution" makes my eyes roll so hard 'cause you know Becky Lynn from the trailer park down in the way in Kentucky is gonna cite this as she drives her sixth "Trump 2028" sign into her lawn and spits tobacco on the nearest homosexual.

To be fair, the UN has always relied on celebrities to bring awareness to issues. It's more or less just for attention, but they know more people are likely to watch if it's Nicki Minaj, BTS or Millie Bobby Brown speaking than some boring bureaucrat.

I obviously disagree with this choice, Nicki's quite possibly insane and a disgusting individual–but knowing lots about or being qualified to speak about the issue has never been the focus of these celebrity ambassadorships.
