Trump: There are not enough talented Americans to fill jobs

Trump supporters are furious over recent comments from the president suggesting immigrant workers are needed to fill certain high-skill roles that he believes many Americans wouldn’t be qualified for.

In an interview on Monday with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, President Trump said the U.S. economy has to “bring in talent” in some cases on the H-1B specialist visa program, which is popular in the tech world.

When Ingraham pressed Trump that there were “talented people” in America companies could hire, the president batted down her comments.

“No you don’t,” he said. “You don’t have certain talents, and people have to learn. You can’t take people off an unemployment line and say, ‘I’m going to put you into a factory and we’re going to make missiles.’”

The remarks have enraged MAGA supporters online who saw the president’s stance as a betrayal of his “America First” agenda to prioritize U.S. workers.

"MAGA's mad at Trump!"

They'd still eat the dead skin from his feet like those little fish, it doesn't matter.

Anyway, the obvious answer is to properly fund colleges and trade schools here in the States and make them affordable and accessible to Americans.

But will Repukes do that? :huntyga:

I fully believe Swifties will stream/buy/buy ten times an album they hate just 'cause it's Taylor.

Same with MAGA. Trump could crash Thanksgiving dinner and karate chop their 95 year old mother in the throat hard enough to kill her and they'd still vote for him to have a third term.

Bc a lot of ppl have to choose between working low paying jobs to survive or not working or resorting to part time jobs while going to school

im going to be a dentist and theres no way i could balance my school with a full time job. If i wasnt so lucky, unlike many people i know, id have to drop out of school to support myself.

He said himself he could kill someone and still get their votes.

He's openly dismissing his base. :laughga:

Lord Mayhem

You can't speak out both sides of your mouth...

On one hand you wanna demonize people from going to college to be "brainwashed" by "woke ideology"...

Then on the other you wanna complain more Americans aren't specialized in specific scientific fields of study...

Gosh this orange clown is a moron...can someone please wake me up from this living nightmare and let me know when America becomes "great" again?... :madge:

Yeah in Italy where extreme right is in power, the same thing happened. People voted Meloni most likely for her anti-immigrations views, yet in 2026 & 2027, she'll let HALF A MILLION immigrants in the country, specifically from non-EU countries. And I also think that during her first year of presidency, the immigration was 50% higher than the previous year.

This is hilarious to me, extreme right just cannot keep any promises they make to the dumbasses who vote for them. Part of me hopes that other countries will see what happens in the USA, Italy, Netherlands... but I know damn well that people who vote extreme right are absolutely clueless about the world and are just blinded by their hate of other people.

Everyone loves to campaign on anti immigration but it's just not realistic. Specially in Italy which has one of the worst birth rates in Europe.

Economy

I mean skills mismatch is a real thing and thats not unique to America. A technologically advanced socity has resulted in many jobs needing very specific skills and education which makes the job market for much of the economy more complex and less dynamic as a random unemployed person can not always fill needed rolls

Our economy does in fact have situations where companies need workers they cant fill and a worker cant find work and the worker and company cant help eachother.

Of course foreign workers has always been a baindaid solution and a lazy way to not fix the core of the issues

I dont know why so few Countries get serious about trainings programs that make needed skills education more affordable. Its kind of a no brainers. For many of these skills it doesnt even have to be a long term investment that is gonna take decades to see benefits because were not talking about stuff that always needs to start being taught to kids since grade 2. Were talking college courses that can be done in 2 or 3 years after an adult has already graduated highschool and would have quick payoffs.

Edit: This is another factor causing wealth inequality too. Not so much for the ultra wealthy as thats other dynamics but more so upper middle class in the top 10% to 20% vs the bottom 80%.

Low skill jobs are in chronic oversupply of labor and people dont get raises. More in demand jobs on the other hand that already pay good to begin with they see faster raises
