For real, who do ppl hate pigeons ? 

They're pretty birds... I know they can be infected by some diseases but just don't touch it guys. Let the pigeon live their lives. 

They're free as their feathers !

I think only New Yorkers hate pigeons. We have a ton of them and they get in the way and poop everywhere.

Maybe “hate” isn’t the right word.  “Annoyed by” could apply and not be so harsh.

Yes people here think the pigeons are flying rats and dirty and full of disease

Here's the thing. I love birds, and I think pigeons are super sweet, surprisingly smart, funny birds. They are beautiful and so friendly. I love them.

But. 

Pigeons built a nest on my balcony this spring and had laid eggs before I discovered it. I didn't want to disturb them so I left them alone. Before I knew it they had moved to the other end of the balcony, built a new nest and had a second set of kids. So now I had 2 parents, 2 "teens" and and 2 tiny baby birds on my balcony. The MESS they made, good sweet jesus. It was incredible the amount of poop they produced. 

The last thing I wanted in the world was to hold hate in my heart for birds, but man.  Unfortunately they became my enemies haha. I waited until all the kids were grown and had netting installed and everything professionally cleaned. It was a disaster. 

Now I can admire them again from a distance
