Yeah, the snippets coming from it feels like its missing the point of the book. Like, I find the idea of making a book filled with domestic abuse an erotic film uncomfortable

The time period seems a bit longer off too. Some people suggested they’ll do something different than what the book is about to justify that but idk

The book has been adapted countless times, I find it crazy how people seem outraged that a filmmaker is choosing a different approach. Reminds me of all the criticism Marie Antoinette received 20 years ago, going as far as being booed at Cannes, and it’s now considered one of the most influential period films in recent memory. People really need to broaden their conception of what an adaptation can be.
