It doesnt make sense if she didnt get a nom just because she directed Abra by herself.... Then it’s essentially shots of the same scenes, one with a different outfit. It’s still a fantastic video for what it is, but I probably wouldn’t name it in Gaga’s top 10 music videos. James Gibson 3,546 Posted 9 hours ago Share Posted 9 hours ago At the vmas it was chosen to submit DWAS for whatever reason, probably for being a bigger hit and VMAs usually reserve those for the top categories (see Poker Face nominated in VOTY in 2009 while Paparazzi, the superior video, got the tech nods just like Abracadabra) For the Grammys it was purely because the visual categories have a small jury to decide the nominees based on the top 20 most voted by general members. I am 100% sure Gaga got enough votes to be top 5 (hence her overperformance in other categories) but the jury blocked it who knows what were their motivations. That's just it, when you're bound to a small jury it becomes highly unpredictable what the taste of that group will be like and there is no conspiracy to be taken after that. I agree Abra should've been nom'd as is one of the best videos of the year (and they nominated the badly edited Manchild bffr) but voila, Let's just move on cause we have proof with other categories that Gaga is beloved by the populat vote.
