AND THE GRAMMY GOES TO…

Untitled141-20251104120756.png

The nominations for the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards are scheduled for release tomorrow, Friday, November 7, 2025, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time. The reveal will be streamed live across live.GRAMMY.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel, marking the official start of the awards season leading up to the ceremony on February 1, 2026. This discussion thread serves as a foundation for analyzing the competitive landscape defined by the eligibility period ending August 30, 2025.

Key Presenters and the General Field Battle

The nominations across all 95 categories will be presented by a notable lineup of artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Karol G, Doechii, Lizzo, and Jon Batiste. Their presence suggests a strong emphasis on mainstream commercial success and genre-blending works within the General Field.

AOTY

Album of the Year is shaping up to be a tight contest between culturally significant and commercially successful projects:

- Kendrick Lamar's GNX is widely viewed as a critical frontrunner, leveraging high artistic praise and cultural impact.

- Lady Gaga's Mayhem is a strong contender given her consistent success with the Academy and the album's significant commercial visibility.

- Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Más Fotos represents global commercial dominance and critical acclaim, making it essential for the Academy's relevance.

- Sabrina Carpenter's Man's Best Friend is expected to receive a major nomination following a breakout year defined by high sales and consistent hit singles.

Artist Spotlight: Lady Gaga’s Extensive Submission List

Given the depth of her submissions this cycle, Lady Gaga is positioned for a historic number of nominations. Success in the General Field and multiple genre categories could put her in contention to challenge the record for most GRAMMYs won in a single night, currently held by Michael Jackson with eight wins in 1984.

Below are Lady Gaga's reported key submissions for the 68th ceremony:

- MAYHEM: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.

- "Abracadabra": Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Dance Pop Recording, Best Music Video.

- "Abracadabra (Gesaffelstein Remix)": Best Remixed Recording.

- "Disease": Best Pop Solo Performance.

- "Perfect Celebrity": Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song.

- Harlequin: Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.

- "That's Entertainment": Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals.

ROTY

The Record of the Year category rewards excellence in performance, production, and engineering. This year sees several high-profile submissions with significant industry buzz:

- Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra" is considered a leading contender for ROTY, driven by strong production and widespread commercial appeal.

- Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "Luther" is highly competitive, combining critical weight with powerhouse collaborations.

- Rosé & Bruno Mars's "APT." has the established commercial appeal and production quality often favored by the Academy.

- Other key tracks like Doechii's "Anxiety" are strong candidates known for their artistic merit and innovative sound design.

Category Shifts

It should also be noted that the 68th GRAMMYs introduce new categories, such as Best Traditional Country Album and Best Ablum Cover reflecting the Academy's ongoing efforts to ensure comprehensive recognition across all fields.

The sheer breadth of submissions and the strength of the major contenders—from the pop dominance of Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter to the critical weight of Kendrick Lamar—promise a morning filled with both expected confirmations and major upsets. We encourage informed analysis of the incoming nominations:

What is your professional assessment regarding the potential General Field nominees, and where do you anticipate the biggest surprises or snubs will occur tomorrow morning? Let the predictions and discussion begin.

If Lady Gaga doesn't win or even get nominated in a major category then Michael needs to pull a Jay-Z and give a speech about snubs.

I know awards are subjective, but gosh this album really is the best one I've heard all year. No skips, and always sounds fresh and hits so good. I hope she does indeed win things (and for Harlequin too!!).
