That meant that they were caught out last minute and organising last minute travel replacements can be dicey when everything is working perfectly. Not sure how you expect them to fasttrack government paperwork etc when there's no staff available. Also there's nothing to say the entire wicked cast were all getting on that flight, it'd be strange if they were.
